Hello, I'm a fellow sufferer...

Hi, I'm new to the board.  I was diagnosed about a year ago, but I think I've had it longer than that.  I have a really embarrassing question to ask.  In the last few days my skin has gotten really sensitive around my waist and low back area.  Today I get up and here's the embarrassing part-I feel like I've just had a baby or getting ready to have one.  It's achy and I feel pressure in the front and the back in my crotch area.  Is this part of it or could this be something else?  I have a lot of other issues like migraines, insomnia, hypothyroidism, hypoglycemia, chronic & adrenal fatigue.  Sorry a little foggy right now, but that's what I can think of right now.

I'm really tired now and think I'll go lay down and check back in later.

Hi, Sherry, and welcome!  I'm so glad you found us and joined the family!  First of all, don't be embarrassed.  You don't get answers if you don't ask and so I'm glad you did ask.  I've had that sensation occasionally.  I'm not sure if I did something to strain the muscles or my back, which is easy to happen with fibro, or if my lower back is aching and radiating to other muscles.  A nerve that's being pinched by a tense muscle could probably do this, too.  But, I really don't worry about things like this because they go away.  I used to run to the doctor about everything and now I have a "wait and see" mentality...except when it comes to my heart, eyes, things that really should be checked out.  But muscle discomfort in the back and crotch won't kill you...at least I hope not!  If it did, I'd have been a goner long ago!    

 

I don't mean to make light of your concerns because the unknown is upsetting.  If it keeps happening, perhaps mention this to your gynecologist at your next appointment.  I'm not a doctor but I know I haven't done anything about this and it also only occurs occasionally for me.  Now, if this is happening all of the time and doesn't cease, I'd talk to the gynecologist about it.  I think they would most likely be the best doctor to see.

 

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the second thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  Good starting links are called Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  You probably will see yourself there.

I don't blame you one bit!  When this happens to me it usually only lasts about a half an hour BUT I don't sit there worrying about it either.  If I did that, it most likely would last longer.  I just busy myself to take my mind off how I feel. 

I'm 64 and nothing has fallen out yet!    Besides, you would know that, too.   But, anyway, because of your family history, you do need to be on the alert.  So, if this keeps happening, get checked out. 

 

I have heart problems in my family so when the heart palpations started, I went to the doctor immediately and he ran me through a battery of tests.  All were fine so we know it's fibro causing them.  But, it's better to be safe than sorry.

I felt really achy like my period was going to start earlier today. Crampy pain, lower back, hips, then it just went away & now my ears are doing their super high pitched whining & I have bad gas. I am getting some alone time thanks to that. lol!

Yes, if it persists go checked out but I like Sherrine's advice too!
