Advice on getting refills on Stolen meds

I had a horrible day.  Not only have I had diareha cry for 2 weeks straight and been tested for all kinds of stuff,  On my way back to work after picking up yet another medication I noticed I was missing my pill bag. smhair   It was a matching bag to my purse and I really am mad about that but having the meds taken is the worst.  My guess is they thought it was my wallet.  That would have been worse by far. 

I called the pharmacy and they said that they wouldn't be able to help me without a police report mainly for the Soma.  skull It's a controled supstance now.  I am going to call the insurance co. tomorrow but they are so uptight about even refills 1 day early.  I had it filled about a week ago. 

The amitriptyline was also just refilled two days ago that is more important to me as it helps me sleep and I don't know if I am going to experience any withdrawl symptoms.  Thank God my cymbalta was home on my night stand. 

The new antibiodic was in there too but after the last test the doctor told me to stop taking that. 

Has anyone had this happen to them? What did you do? idea

I have never had that happen before. You should notify your Dr. and get a police report. IF you got that from pain management service sometimes the contract you sign as rules of it own on this situation. I hope everything works out to the best.

How did things turn out? I've only had one mishap and it wasn't pretty. The Dr. called in something different for me and that worked since it was comparable. The pharmacy is who made error but of course never owned up. Had all sorts of what I thought was proof but not good enough. Thank goodness for my Dr.

I once went to fill all of my perscriptions.... and had them all in my bag....
a tote bag when I was working.. when I got to work....I locked the bag in my drawer. that day we had a robbery at work... and they broke opened my desk drawer and stole that tote bag....

thank god my pharmacist believed me cause he refilled all the scripts for me...... I had a police report too.. so I never lost out on any refills.. they all stayed the same...

I have had meds stolen from me beffoe. I only carry what I need on me. I use to keep my meds sitting out and learned about that one too. I keep them safe and sound now.

I hope that you get this worked out for the best. It sounds like the police report is needed.

Soma is not a controlled substance so with a police report you shouldn't have any issue at all refilling it. I also don't have prescription coverage and the generic is only $20 for 90. I asked my pharmasist and they always give me an extra empty bottle labeled with my name and prescription so I can only bring a few vicodin with me at a time (and not get in trouble since its in a valid prescription bottle.

My mistake, I just hopped on google and soma is now a controlled substance. Make sure you file a police report, if the thief gets caught with your pills they could say you sold them and that could get you in trouble. (Happened to a friend of mine with her percocet)

Bummer about the stolen meds-you have good advice here-I also only carry what I need for the day on me.I really hope u are able to get this sorted out asap!
JILL-I have chronic muscle spasms also which was diagnosed as Myofacial pain disorder. What do u do for yors? I get intraspasm shots of numbing meds now and then but I would like a less invasive treatment- also accupuncture is helpful for a few days after treatment.

My pain problem areas are my neck and back. I get trigger point injections every month or 2 (its excessive but if I don't I get excruiating migraines) I also tried PT without much success but did learn several good stretching exercises. I also keep either a microwavable heating pack or thermocare heat patches with me at all times. I am also on soma, although my doctor would prefer Skelaxin (sp?), I do not have prescription coverage and its too expensive for me. I would like to try accupuncture but am terrified of the thought of needles sticking out of my body.

Thank you all for your advice.  I didn't even need the soma at the time.  The cymbalta has been controling my pain.  The soma was for my back pain flare ups.  The doctor refilled everything but the soma.  I said that was fine.  I didn't file a report since I didn't need it anymore.  I don't think anyone would try to say I sold it to them.  I have all my doctor and pharmacy records to show it was stolen and then I would definatly know who stole it.  But you bring up a good point.  If was anything stronger I would file. 

It is a month later and my back pain is acting up again.  I called the pharmacy and they said that it was ok to get a refill as enough time had gone by.  I am being much more attentive to my pill bag.  I still think they thought they got my wallett and were not happy when they found it was just some meds. The only one worth any money was the soma. 

I was frustrated at the time since I was being treated like a criminal.  I was so dissapointed that the gift my mom got me for christmas the pill bag that matched my purse was stolen and her key to her house was in there.  It wasn't labled so I'm not worried about anyone knowing what it goes to.

I am being more aware now of my beloingings.  Theft is so bad.  It is such a personal violation.  If it hasn't happened to you it is hard to beleive.  I know when people told me they had stuff stolen I found it hard to beleive or wondered why they put themselves in that position.  Now I know better.  It can happen to anyone.  I just hope they eventually get caught.

When I was working, I suspected a girl for going into my purse in the office and stealing some of my pills. I always had an extra pain pill. One day when I needed my meds, they were gone. It happened more than once. I may have fibrofog and forget some things, but I don't forget to carry my meds.

I think that this is a lesson for all of us. People know you have fibromyalgia, sometimes that can work against you. They automatically assume that you take meds. Though your theives weren't after meds, or were they? I have had that happen. And when it is all that you got, and you can't get more, it really stinks.

I hope that this doesn't happen again. You can replace your purse, but not the other stuff that was in it. I wish you the best.

Karen, it blows my mind that someone would go through your purse for a pain pill, but you do raise a valid point. There are some very dishonest people out there and we all need to be more careful.
