Polymyositis or Fibro????

Hi all, I am new to this forum and I hope someone out there will be able to help me out. I have had fibro symptoms for several years and been to multiple rheumys -- with varying degrees of frustration, and always leaving their office without a diagnosis. I always assumed I had fibro, until I started looking up some of the other symptoms I have (sunburn-looking chest rash, purple eyelids, swollen fingers) and started to seriously believe I have polymyositis. I went to yet another rheumy and she did a physical exam, and diagnosed me with fibro. She told me that the skin conditions are because I am fairly complected, and that if I did have polymyositis I wouldn't have enough energy to even get up on the exam table (which is often the case, actually). She did send me for more blood tests, to "ease my mind" that I don't have polymyositis. Well, the test results came back, and I have a positive ANA (1:320 Speckled Pattern, 1:640 Nucleolar Pattern) and an elevated C3 complement. I started looking online at what that means exactly, and it all points to polymysoitis. She had a member of her staff call me and tell me the test results are consistent with her diagnosis of fibro and to continue taking the Neurontin she had prescribed (which is not terribly effective). I sent the doctor and e-mail, and she left me a voice mail saying she would call the next week, but never did. She is basically blowing me off. Does anyone here know about these things? Way back when the symptoms first began, I was prescribed Prednisone, which eliminated all symptoms -- while I was taking it. I read that Prednisone isn't effective for fibro. Is that true?
