Venting over funeral and travel

Leaving tomarrow for the 100 mile trip to family for my step mother's funeral. She died very unexpected, wasn't even ill from a massive heart attack while in the ER for problems going to the rest room. I'm wondering what the heck they gave her for her restroom troubles that can cause cardiovascular failure. After the funeral, I'm going to get a copy of medical records. The hospital she was in is ah shall we say not the best. I've been there before, including many hospitalizations. There was only one time there that they didn't screw up with me, and that was when I walked in the ER knowing I needed acute care, handed a guy in scrubs my asthma inhaler and then I lost conciousness. Last summer, I had a heart attack at the same hospital, whilst under anasthia (sp), and an asthma attack. I was admitted to ICU for that, the ED team was great. ICU needed a few brains. They seriously tried to discharge me with my bedrest BPM at 180 (heart rate, and really high enough to have another heart attack). I told them if they did, I'm going to ED and getting re admitted and to get me a new doctor. That afternoon, I was on heart pills. It took me a fight while I'm trying to fight for life and that is why I'm wondering what happened with my mother. I was lucky to make it, and mother didn't. I only want to know the truth of what happened. I called and spoke to a nurse, and I can tell she was not telling me the whole truth. I called only because I had the strangest (turns out it wasn't a dream) dream while I was sleeping about mom. I dreampt that I had a call and I answered (managed to actually answer whilst sleeping) and dad said she died and what happened at hospital. When I actually woke up, 3 hours later, it seemed a little to realistic for a dream, so I called the hospital to confirm a death and found out it was true.

So sorry to hear about your stepmom. AND the hospital woes...kinda sounds like our little regional hospital out in the boondocke-it doesn't seem to attract the best medical minds(no House here)

I would certainly investigate an unexpected death. Are they doing an autopsy? Maybe your Dad could request one?

Anyway, I knwo the trip will be hard for you both physically and spiritually and I will remember you in my prayers
