I had my very first rheumy appointment three weeks ago. I have an excellent rheumy and they spent three hours with me! They did a two hour interview and discussion really finding everything about my illnesses and family illnesses. Then came the tests. They took approximately 25 x-rays of my neck, back, hips, etc. Then they took eight viles of blood work! I just saw them yesterday and had to schedule two MRI's now. It seems I not only have fibro but something called spondyloarthropathy...a form of arthritis that could be caused by my Crohn's disease. Talk about a mouthful! But, because they were so thorough, I'm learning that this is going on with me, too. I was having way too much pain to just be dealing with fibro, according to the doctor. Guess this has been going on with me for years but I was able to keep it under control with ibuprofen. Now that I can't take ibuprofen, I really see all the pain I was dealing with. I'm really glad I went.
Print out the journal and pain chart in Fibro 101. Start recording your pain levels when doing daily activities like exercise, dressing yourself, cooking, etc. This will help them understand better what you are going through with this illness. It's a great start.
Please let us know how your appointment goes. I hope your rheumy is as thorough as mine.
