Hi. I was sold a large jar of D-Ribose by my Endocrinologist. It was a powder supplement to be mixed in with anything. Since the D-Ribose mix was sweet tasting, I mixed it with a strawberry/banana juice box I buy for my grandkids. The D-Ribose wasn't worth the price (40 bucks) as far as I was concerned because it didn't make any significant improvement in my energy level. It did cause my blood sugars to rise a bit. It is worth a try, I suppose. It did make me feel more energetic but only for about a week and then my body seemed to adjust to it. Same thing happens when I take 5-HTP for anxiety. It only works for a couple of days, then I get used to it. Also, you must keep the D-Ribose in a cool place unexposed to sunlight. I left it in the car for just about a half an hour and it was ruined. It had solidified and had turned kind of dark. That kind of told me just how much lactose it had in it. So I went back to just drinking milk. I have noticed that when I am fatigued, drinking a glass of 2% milk helps me get a bit of energy immediately and allows me to then make myself something balanced to eat, like a peanut butter/banana sandwich on whole wheat toast. I skip the honey bcuz I don't care for the taste, that's all.
