I have not disappeared

Hi All. I have been so busy with stuff for my darn breast cancer that I haven't checked in lately. But, all is well here. The mastectomy has healed nicely, just some pain from the drains. I have a port installed on the other side for the chemo which I started yesterday. I thought some of you would recognize the side effects I may get. I may: ache allover, like the flu, may have tummy issues, rashes, headaches, tiredness--wait are they possibly confusing chemo side effects with fibro? Oh and chemo fog, my favorite. I won't even know the difference.

I am dealing with the whole braless look. Sports bra still to painful and not fitted yet for mastectomy bra. Bad look for me. One missing in action and the other has travel way south. I've been sewing cute, very colorful vests to wear over shirts. Keeps my mind busy and I tell myself people are looking at the gorgeous vest and not the body beneath.

Hi sounds like you are keeping your spirits up, I honestly have no clue of what you are going through and hopefully will never need to. I have had a few friends who have had mastectomies but they all had double. Your skin must be super sensitive right now so take your time.

I am trying to write down an idea for the equal side look but I do not want to offend you. I entered a contest where I had to crochet a breast, it was a fund raiser anyway I did not win because I did not have mine finished in time, I made my own pattern but out of all natural cotton I crocheted a replica of my breast, I stuffed it with natural fibres. You sound handy doing the sewing you might want to consider making one just like the other one.

I wish you the best in your recovery, hopefully the fibro will give you a break.

I'm glad you're on the other side, at least of the 1st step. You do have an amazing sense of humor! That will help you heal as much as anything else, I'd be willing to bet.

I love the vest idea, too. How wonderful that you can sew what you can imagine - I never had that talent. Nada.

It's good to hear from you, and I'm glad you are doing well. Those vests sound like a great idea. Maybe when you are feeling all the way better you can turn that into a for profit or charitable venture. I'm sure there are lots of others in the same boat.

Grandmaroses, what a cute idea for a "replacement". I was not offended, rarely am about much. I probably will be getting something in a few weeks for the blank spot. I use to crochet a little and right now am thinking about making a shoulder bag. I made some in the 70's if I can remember how. I saw a cute knitted one a few weeks ago. The lady had tied little pieces of ribbon between the finished stitches. Made the purses look kind of like a rag purse. I think it would work well with crochet too.

Smurfy, best wishes to you during your chemo. I will keep you in mind while I sit in that chair. It's not fun is it? But it will make us well.
