help i,m drowning

hello,
i am new here i have been reading your forums and glad to know i,m not crazy!
i have read about the meds.on multiple and have een house bound for quite some time.
has anyone applied for ssd and if so how long did it take? having a terrible flare up with a deep depression.i know this will help some at least.

Kathy- welcome to the fibro forum. You have found the right place if you need supoort and learning about fibromalgia. I have learned so much myself from this site. I use to feel like nobody understood what I was going through. This site has made a big difference in my depression also. I finally got so tired of dr's guestioning my symptoms. I read other post and started to knock off one symptom at a time. It has worked so well. I finally have a treatment plan that works well for me. Dont get me wrong I have those days still, but less of them. I never want to go back to those days again. I am on disability with social security, plus work disability. The state social security is a mess to go through, but once one get it, it pays off. I applied the first time and I didn't know what I was doing. I didn't get it and went back to work. Ater two years I almost died and I tried again on my own and I got it. If I had to do it over again I would go through a lawyer. In Alaska the lawyers will not take you unless you have been denied first. The bad thing about applying is some people dont have a spouse incoome or work disability to survive while you wait for approval. I dont know how others did it. I had work disability to fall on. It took me 9 months the second time around. Each state is different and medicare doesn't kick in for 2 years from the time you applied. The depression is probably how I got the disability. I have numerous health problems, but it didn't seem to matter with them. My psy. Dr. is the one who said I could never work again. I read that on a paper that she filled out. I didn't know that for the longest time. One of the biggest thing is having your Dr's on your side with the disability. I read some of the questions the disability people wrote my Dr. It makes a difference for sure. I hope I didn't expand too much. Hope to see you around.
