Okay guys, I went to my Chiropractor last week and told him that my pharmacy in Alabama would not transfer my meds to Georgia. I'd been so frustrated. No pain meds, no neurtontin, nothing. It felt like glass was in my bones and my skin was on fire. My Chiro told me about a doctor here that only took the uninsured and only charged $50 for a visit. Well, I didn't even have that...but after my parents saw how much pain I was in and saw the seizures...they wanted me in there ASAP.
I went in with little hope to tell you the truth. (Oh, and I was also there for two very painful ear infections.) I was praying the whole time in the waiting room. "Please, God, let this man be generous and understanding of my disease. Please let him realize that I do need pain meds. Please make him give me what I need." I was doing some serious begging. Then my Mom (My hubby was at work with my Dad) pointed at a sign above the door, "WE DO NOT PRESCRIBE NARCOTICS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES." Man, my heart sunk. But I figured, what the heck, we are already here. And I need something for my ears.
Guys, that man walk into the room with his snow white hair and eyelashes and bright blue eyes and I instantly liked him. He sat down with me. He looked me in the eyes. He talked to me. He spent TIME with me. He treated me like a human being. He was never in a rush. He wanted to know every issue I was having with Fibro. He said he definitely believes in it because his wife's friend killed herself because the pain was so bad and no doctors believed her. How horrible is that?!?!
Then he left the room for a minute and came back with a lot of free samples. Some stuff for asthma and all...and SAVELLA. Guys, when I was first diagnosed, I had been put on a lot of antidepressants, none of which helped. But oh my word...the NEXT MORNING I felt the difference. Its been almost a week and I'm still a bit achy and my neck is tight but that feeling of having glass in my hips and wrists and neck...and the burning of my skin...its gone! And he is even trying to get it free from the manufacturer for me (and a Imitrex and Topamax) because its so pricey! And the whole time we were there he had WalMart's $4 list out trying to make it as cheap for me as possible. AND rather than poking and pushing and yanking my body when he checked me out, he was GENTLE! Wow.
As much as I loved that Doc, I must admit that I was disappointed that he wouldn't give me Loritab...but he did give me as much Tramadol as I wanted...and you know what...with the Savella, I haven't even thought about needing some Loritab. How great is that?! I know there will still be bad days. But praise God for that doctor and for free Savella!!!
