I thought I had posted this to the Fibro forum to let my friends know how things were going, but I don't see the post anywhere. Well, i hope I'm not duplicating, but here it is anyway. Thank you to those who were following.
I recently posted that I was in a bad fibromyalgia flare and also that my brother, Charley was in ICU after emergency surgery to remove his colon.
Charley is still in ICU, but is progressing and is out of bed to a chair and is tolerating it for two to three hours a day. Yesterday was his first day out of bed. He had the surgery last tuesday (a week ago) after his bowel perforated and they went in and removed his entire large intestine. He was on a respirator and was in bad shape.
Today, he was introduced to his first meal, a roast beef dinner, and enjoyed it very much I am told. Of course, he is off the respirator and is breathing on his own, but continues to have fluid in his lungs. I should mention again that he has a permanent colostomy bag now too, but I am happy to report that he is doing well. I pray that soon he will be out of ICU and perhaps I will be able to talk to him myself.
As you may recall, I was going to go see him, but my sister in law begged me not to, saying that my brother was agitated to hear I was going to make the trip and she said that he didn't want me there. I was so upset to hear this and immediately got depressed. So my daughter Jill, booked a two day vacation in Jupiter, Florida along the intercoastal waterway to get away and enjoy some sun. My husband and I went and we had a lovely time together. It was just what the doctor ordered and I was getting updates on my brother via my niece through my daughter. The news was good, so I was able to enjoy myself. There was a jaccuzi in the room we had, so that daily soaking was the perfect ticket to my aching fibromyalgia muscles, I tell you!!
So, I am back now, feeling better and hearing that Charley is doing better helps my state of mind too. I went to Tampa today for my oncology surgeon's examinatrion. All is well and I'm doing well. He did reiterate that if the cancer returns, there is not much they can do for me, which put my husband into a depressive tailspin. I am now trying to hold him up and telling him that I am going to be ok. Please continue to pray for my family, my friends. I will let you know how things go as time passes.
God bless you all for your interest and your prayers. I feel all the positive energy coming my way and I do thank you from the bottom of my heart.
