Not Sure

Hi everyone..I have a couple of questions...every now and again my face will turn blotchy red ...only across my cheeks, nose and sometimes my forehead. It may last all afternoon, it may last for a couple of hours. It's not there all the time. I usually can tell when it is happening it doesn't itch per se but I do find myself rubbing my face. Anyone else have this problem?

I also have found myself getting tired immediately...I call it crashing....I have to lay down and sleep, and I usually do sleep for NO less than 6 hours...and I mean the sleep of the dead!

I've been diagnosed for a few years with fibro, but these are things that have been happening for the past 6 months. I see my rheumy tomorrow...just thought I'd get everyone's opinion.

I've been under an immense amount of stress at work....for the last 6 months!

Hi, Linnikay. I'm glad you've joined us...(can't remember if I've met you or not. The fog, you know, when it rolls in, it rolls in thick)...have you been directed to Fibro 101, 2nd thread on this forum? I've had Fibro for at least 20 years, and I still learn from it.

As far as crashing, I do that, but not for 6 hours or even close. Are you talking about during the day? My face does flush sometimes, especially when I've been under lots of stress. Part of that may be being a redhead, I don't know.

Be sure to let us know what your rheumy says tomorrow.

Hi, Linnikay, and welcome!  I'm glad you are seeing a rheumatologist tomorrow.  They will get to the bottom of this.  I've heard that people with fibro can get a butterfly rash but I rarely hear about this on the forum.  That sounds more like lupus.  But, I'm not a doctor and you will be seeing a doctor tomorrow who can answer this question far better than we can. 

 

It's difficult because many of the symptoms of fibro are like other illnesses, including lupus.  Did you read the link called What Else Could It Be in Fibro 101?  This is why it's important to get good medical care and evaluations.  You are doing the absolute correct thing by seeing a rheumatologist with the symptoms you are describing.  I'm sure tests will be run and you will get an answer soon and be on your way to feeling better and having better health. 

 

Meanwhile, please let us know what you find out.  We do care about you.  Don't hesitate to ask questions either because we are here to help you.  Hope to hear more from you soon.

Ok here goes saw the rhuemy today and...
with everything I told him I am having a "boatload" of blood tests tomorrow. Along with xrays of my hands. He said it could be an autoimmune issue. Lupus. but inorder to say yes or no he needs these blood tests, my hands are swollen and joints are sore which could mean RA. Hence the xrays. Said it kinda stands to reason that if I have an underlying autoimmune problem the fibro won't get better because we are not treating the autoimmune issue. I did have a positive ANA in 2009 but no other symptoms but pain. now I have severe fog, exhaustion, and all the others "stuff" too.

I also asked him why he said at my first appointment that if I was looking to get disability then I'd have to go somewhere else. He said it's not that if I really could not work he wouldn't sign off, it's that over the years he has found that so many people try to get disability with one appt. and if he says that up front and the patient continues to come back and be treated he will work with them. If not it proves to him what they wanted him for. He told me not to start worrying yet we will walk this road together. I really like him, the amount of time he spends with me and his concerns with my health, he even asks my husband if there is anything I'm forgetting to say or ask or if my husband has any questions or concerns. I'm blessed.

Update! No Lupus nor RA! Yippee...now onto just living with fibro...

Thanks Sherrine, on top of all the stress I've been having...my car blew a head gasket, closing an agency of 40 years, deep hurtful issues with siblings, and of course not to mention the stress of being a Pastor's wife. This was truly a blessing to me. I've had a couple of severe (down and out want to die type) flares, and combined with everything else...I was ready to throw in the towel.
I didn't mean by any stretch of the imagination to say I think that fibro isn't bad, but I just wanted to praise God...he is keeping me going...with fibro! I do have other problems...IBS, Migraines, allergies, swelling etc. but I'm chosing to remain upbeat! And I will "Keep on truckin! :o)

Millymilan...i will check all of my creams. but I'm at work right now and I didn't put anything on my face and its that way now...blotchy and red...

PS my cheeks never itched when they turned red and hot. Just FYI.
