I was glad to find out that my lungs tissue looked pretty good. My pulmonologist said that the chest scan showed that I have a 1 cm nodule in my lower lobe of my left lung. Not all nodules are cancer...so I'm hoping I'm lucky.

My heart doesn't look any worse than it did the last time so that's good news,left ventricle will always be thick and stiffer than it should be...but as long as it isn't getting any thicker, that is a good thing! He is concerned about my cough and had me take a TB blood draw to help rule that out...What are the chances of that?

I'm still feeling pretty lucky...and not ready to give up.

The lung nodule is small and I have to go back in October for a chest CT scan with contrast again and go through another series of lung function tests.

Oh good!! Glad to hear your lung tissue looked pretty good, and your heart hasn't deteriorated, ((Robin))...so for now...you can hopefully relax. I know you're an expert at that. You could give us all lessons.

This is very good news!  I'm glad you are in a holding pattern!  You are a strong woman and do a lot to help yourself.  I bet you are much relieved, too.  Your mind was starting to conjure up those good old "worse case scenerios" but you stopped it in it's track by being checked out.  Good for you!  Now, sit back and enjoy the upcoming weekend.

 

I will continue to keep you in my prayers.

Good morning, Robin.

The report does sound good. Hopefully, the 1cm nodule will be 'nothing'

I have a question, if I may? Re the cough, is it possible that it's due to a med for hypertension? I ask bc my DH had to have his meds changed due to a cough. He & I took the same med at that time and I had absolutely no bad reaction to it. I hope it is something as simple as that.

I'm glad you're feeling more optimistic. Sometimes, we let our worries overtake us, and just a few words from our drs can settle us down again. And NO, I don't see you giving up, you have tremendous inner strength and luckily, you share it w/ us.

Remember, we all love you and we are always in your corner.

Thanks again for the support. You do help me focus on the positive and that helps :)

In June, the lung function testing seemed to really irritate my lungs. My dry cough has become more persistent since then along with shortness of breath.

Yesterday, I was also tested for Histoplasmosis along with TB...lung nodules can also be caused by both these conditions....or they can be just benign.
From what I've read, for my age group and smoking history there is a 40% that the nodule could be cancer...I'm not dwelling on that possibility.

Histomplasmosis is an infection caused by breathing in fungal spores from bird droppings getting into the soil. People who landscape or garden are at a higher risk if they have a compromised immune system...I take MTX an immunosuppressant and I love to garden.

My pulmonoligist is one of the best around here and he is very thorough...I'm in good hands :)
