Hello everyone,

 

It has been a while since I last posted, however, each time I come back it's like catching up with old friends. It's nice to know we are not alone and there are others out there going thru the same difficulties.

 

I had applied for disability since I have not been able to work any more as of June of last year. I received my first denial and then retained an attorney. It has been very frustrating as at least one of my physicians has delaying in responding to record request. Whereas, the other two physicians, my pcp and rheumatologist have been very cooperative.

 

I had to go for an appt with a psychologist earlier this year. Now they have notified me that they have scheduled 3 appts as of next week.  Two for Friday, and one on a Sat. This is very frustrating as I have no idea where these appts are located as of yet. If I have to travel long distance, this will not be good for my fm. However, I have been advised to not miss these if possible.

 

It just seems unfair that we have to jump thru hoops to get back what we have already paid in. And the fact that your health isn't good the start with...this just makes it worse. I know I am venting, but is anyone else going thru this at this time?

Hello. Please, whatever you do, do not miss those appointments. If you have to hobble, still go. They can deny you if you do not keep the appointments.
It is so frustrating. You might even have to keep on your lawyer to request those files form the dr. that is dragging their heels on getting in the paperwork.

Also remember that if you find yourself in dire circumstances of being behind in your bills and your home is about to be foreclosed on, you can write a letter to be forwarded to the judge in the SS court requesting a dire need hearing. You would have to have proof of the past due bills and foreclosure papers, but it does help you get an emergency hearing.

It is very frustrating, but keep the faith and hopefully you will get a good outcome son.

Yellow- keep up the fight! It will be worth it in the long run. I had trouble getting my medical records to social security office. I ended up calling my Dr's office myself and hand carried them to my case worker. It was in no time that I got my answer. Hopefully your lawyer will be able to speed up things for you.

I didn't need a lawyer, but sometimes I wish I had one when I was going through the process. I never had to see outside Dr's either. I just know it makes a huge difference if your Dr's will pull for you. I had one Dr. that felt like it was up to social security to make that decision. She would fill in the questions, but write nothing extra. Then I had psy. Dr. that added her own opinion at the bottom of the page. It was that Dr. that got me my social security. It was that medical record that social security was waiting on to make there decision. That was the medical record I hand carried to my case worker. Then I realized how some of the system works.

I know it's frustrating and scary at the same time, but try not to give up. It will be all worth it. It made a huge difference in my health being at home .

They will send you to doctors in your area.  I live in a community about a half hour from Tampa but they sent me to a Tampa doctor in about the worst part of town!  His office was in a small house with bars at the windows.  It was for a hearing test.  I had to chuckle because my Doctor of Audiology is totally state-of-the-art but this doctor had me go down in the basement for the test.  He pulled out equipment that they used to test children's hearing back in the 1950's.  LOL  That's the government for you!  tongue

 

You will be fine.  You certainly can travel to a doctor in your area.  I think we all had to go through this process to be approved for disability.  I didn't use a lawyer, either.  I just was meticulous at doing what they requested.

Thanks to everyone that responded. It is comforting to know that I'm not alone. I have 2 appt for Friday, and one for Sat. All are local. I have a physical, xrays, and then one with a psychologist. (this is the 2nd time for that) Anyway, I feel better than I did. Thanks for all your comments and words of encouragement. Keep me in your prayers and I will update you after the appts.
