smhair  I know there's already a forum for sore and tender scalps but naturally, I can't find it! I needed to register before posting...so it's GONE. For about a year my scalp has been so sore and so tender that it hurts 24 hrs a day. At first I thought perhaps I was allergic to my shampoo so I changed brands.  No improvement. Next I wondered if my shower was too hot. I switched to very cool and tepid water for shampoo and conditioning.  Still no improvement. On the forum (which I can no longer find) I noticed that perhaps a sore scalp is related to fibro.  Yikes!  Is this true? If so why has it "suddenly" appeared after many years of dealing with and putting up with fibro? Help and explanation will be very much appreciated. Can someone please redirect me to the original forum?  Thanks.

If you have fibro you're in the right spot.

If there is nerves your fibro can hurt there.
Have you talked to the doctor about this?

Hello couchtater and Joy. Thanks for letting me know I somehow stumbled in to the right spot. Couchtater, your question as to whether I've spoken to my doctor is a very good one. When next I see my pain management specialist I will most certainly complain and bring it up! If complaining cured fibro........{:>}

Joy, once upon a time I was very handy with lay up basketball shots. I'm not tall so that was my only way of making a basket. It's a handy dandy skill....I shoot whatever needs to get to the trash can and almost always save myself the time and trouble of getting up! As far as the lemons go...I'm right there with you.

Hi, Redroom, welcome.

I stumbled onto this site, too. Joined in 2008, like my signature says, and promptly forgot all about it until I stumbled back in 2010, when I started really reading and writing posts. It's been a lifesaver for me. I hope you'll stick around so we can get to know you. We all give eachother so much support.

My scalp bothers me from time to time, although nothing like what you describe. But yes, I'd agree with couchtater - if it's on your body and it can hurt, fibro can always be part of the problem!

Hello Redroom. Heck yes Fibro can cause scalp pain !

My scalp used to hurt so bad, it would bring nearly bring tears to my eyes to comb it. More often that that though, it would just start itching so bad, I wanted to scratch my hair off !

To the best of my memory, my scalp issues would come on, out of the blue, and last like 2 to 6 weeks, then mysteriously disapear for several months, then out of the blue, back again {as did many of my long list of crazy Fibro symptoms}

So yea.... The scalp thing. That really sucked.

Hi Redroom,

I may not have exactly what you have but I wanted to mention a scalp issue I once in a while have to deal with. Last year I decided to try a Vitamin World vitamin product for women. It was a box of daily pre-packaged vitamins. The morning I took it for the first time I came down with intermittent sharp shooting pains in my head. I didn't take the vitamins the next morning because I wondering if the pains had anything to do with the supplements. The pains went on for days, weeks, and gradually got better. I still get them every now and then. Thankfully, Vitamin World gave me a refund the next day.

What I'm trying to suggest is, is there anything like a medication or supplement that you began taking around the time your pain started?

Hello Redroom! I too have scalp pain. Mine first happened after I took a Medrol pack after a surgery I had. It was horrible. I could not even lay down, or prop my head up on anything, without extreme pain. It was like the worst bruise I had ever had.

Usually my scalp will hurt or itch, but I had that before because of Lupus. The pain I described above was different though.

I do not have any suggestions for relieving the pain though. For me it comes and goes, so hopefully you will get some relief soon.

Hi there....
I recently stopped eating products that contain GLUTEN and the outcome is amazing. No more I.B.S no more Gert, no more pain in my eyes and sinus infections are gone. I dropped 20 pounds in a months time. GLUTEN is detramental to folks with fibromyalgia...it is fuel to the fire. It does not allow the small intestine to absorb nutrition, hence the always hungry feeling. I now have energy and I crave fruits and vegetables which never happened before. GLUTEN is poison to many. nono

Hello all, I was recently diagnosed with celiac desease after a long battle with being told I was not eating enough and dropping from 210 to 140 in about 15 months. I have had vitilligo all my life another autoimmune desease. And recenting started getting patches of Duhrings as a result to the celiac. I continue to lose weight after more than a month gluten free, although its hidden in so may products now its likely i have not completely eliminated it yet. I live on a CPP disability here in Canada making it very difficult to become 100 percent gluten free. It does appear the only way I am going to be able to do is to grind my own flours.

I too have a section on the top of my head that developed these painfull symtomps i get a cross between pain and burning even if i move the hair in spots primarily on the left side of my scalp. This started around two months ago.

I notice this thread is about Fibromyalgia. I don't know much about this desesase.

I am wondering is this scalp pain fibromyalgia or is it from the celiac, or perhaps the duhrings. Seems rather confusing to me. I am a 46 year old male, have been misdiagnosed for years, diverticulitis, IBS, you name it till now, and it took my own research to finally find some answers.

The celiac has been diagnosed.

But i wonnder if that is all that is going on. my latest full blood work results showed, ketones with normal sugar levels, blood in the urine, and hi hemaglobin levels.

I have bad disc's in my neck and nerve damage in both arms that effects the last two and a half fingers and the thumbs which are mostly numb (not pins and needles), the never conductance tests shows the damage but not the location or specific cause. The damage is permanent and ongoing.

Yes, I get this. When it first occured, I went to doctor. It hurts to touch my scalp. I now know it's the fibro, and one of my many "friends".
