For the past several months, I've had some issues with sleeping. I sometimes take a cup or two of chamomile tea before bedtime.
Being in menopause, I wonder if not sleeping is related to that?
I am dealing with some stressful issues in my life, but I think all in all, I do fairly well with those. I'm a 'take action' person and do what I can about the problems and try to leave the rest to God. Maybe the only issue is that there are several things going on at the same time which can be overwhelming, but again, I do what I can to 'fix' problems, then leave them be. I do know there's light at the end of the tunnel, and life has its ups and downs.
I don't drink coffee and very seldom eat chocolate or anything with caffeine.
I take time to 'unwind' before bedtime, and relax with an interesting book, followed by some Bible verses. I literally NEVER watch TV. We don't have cable, and get lousy reception of 'regular' TV. I also don't go online for a couple hours before bedtime.
Last night was another example of poor sleep. I went to bed drowsy and drifted off to sleep fairly fast. I generally get into fairly deep sleep, especially in cooler weather (maybe the hot weather is causing my current issues with sleep?). Then, I woke up suddenly about 2 hours later; why, I don't know, but I was then wide awake for an hour or so, fell asleep, then woke up again a couple hours later.
I'm not currently taking any fibro meds. When I do, it's rare (this time of year) and almost always only one Neurontin or Flexeril per day. That's it. In the winter months, I will often take meds daily, again, usually only 1 pill per day.
Puritan's Pride has something called Calm Tabs, which contain valerian and other calming herbs. I tried taking 2 of those before bedtime, with varying success on different nights.
I don't sleep during the day. If I feel especially tired, I rest on my bed and read a short chapter of a book, just to relax.
Certainly, my body must be tired, as I'm active all day. Any idea why I wouldn't sleep better, and any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
