Intense itching?

I would first rule out bed bugs/mites. Or even fleas...Do you have any pets?

Or have you had people visiting your home recently or have you visited a hotel/motel at all in the last month?

Because it's in those particular areas in patches...it sounds more like bites of something...

Obviously not a Dr. and you can make a quick trip to your GP to check it out if needed. But I would just make sure it's not anything like bed bugs or mites as those would need to be dealt with asap!

That's good you can rule that out...There has been a lot of those going around lately as it can happen to anyone accidentally spreading from one to another. There was even an incident in one of the best hotels in NYC recently...

I have never heard of itching itself as a Fibro symptom but more a possible reaction to certain medications. But the list is so long and varying from person to person..Are you taking anything new?

Hopefully others will come on to offer up their thoughts/suggestions...

I can only say to try treating it first topically with hydrocortisone...And then adding in something like Bendaryl if it doesn't help..

Itching can be an especially annoying symptom of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Sometimes, your skin might itch for no obvious reason, and when your skin that is dry or irritated you'll likely feel a stronger itch than someone else would.

I, too, itch occasionally, but have no idea why.

Sometimes I also get the sensation of a spider or something running across my hand or wrist or arm. It sure feels like something is there, but I look and--nothing! I think that's related to nerves acting up in there, too.

Yes I also get itchy for no reason, no bites and it can be more than annoying. Tonight's spot is my ankle but it's just a very tiny area. I know it sounds weird but I try not to scratch but it drives me to distraction until I give in scratch for a few seconds then it settles down but comes back a few more times over the evening. I get this a couple times a week in different spots.

I have itching, but it varies as to what part of my body is involved. Throughout last winter, my scalp itched, but I never could find a reason why. I tried a number of different types of shampoo, but this didn't help. Finally, at about the time the seasons changed, the itching stopped. I also have the crawling sensations on my skin (particularly my feet) but there is usually nothing there.

I use Cortaid or the generic form for that.  It really does help.  My dermatologist told me to do that.
