I try to be as med-free as I can, but I sometimes have times where I need to take either Flexeril or Neurontin. I do take these at night (usually either one or the other; very rarely both). However, even the next morning, I'm still very sleepy from the effects. I don't know if I'm hypersensitive or what, but the sleepiness can last for several hours the next day, even if I give up and take a brief rest.
Am trying to find something that would help my nerve pain and my flexibility which is not a medication. I was doing pretty well with something called Calm Tabs from Puritan, but lately I'm really struggling to get past the stiffness, which has been nasty. I did an online search for 'natural alternatives to Flexeril Neurontin' and it looks like valerian, boswellia, and other herbs are mentioned (which are ingredients in the Calm Tabs and similarly, Relax Already). I also did a search for 'natural muscle relaxers' and got similar findings.
I realize we also have to be careful with herbs. Too often we forget they are really a form of natural medication, but a medication, still.
Should mention, too, that I'm getting over gastritis, so I have to be careful, especially with anything too strong/spicy which could kick up the nerves in the stomach.
Can anyone suggest something that would help my nerve pain and flexibility which wouldn't make me so sleepy? Thanks in advance for any suggestions and have a great day, everyone.
