I am a wife and mother of two boys and a step son,I have read a few of the post and reply's,I have fibro and it has gotten a lot worse in the last couple of years,I have started missing a lot of work, that has lead to me feeling like the outcast that is not dependable, I have always worked and was a single mom for years,I was proud to be a dependable worker. So when I was trying to figure out what the heck was wrong with me I started missing a lot of work.So I found another,and it turned out that I Loved my new job, But of course I started having flair ups again! After having my med changed and adjusted and new ones added it still did no good. I too have learned to lie even with an excuse from work I would say anything from an infection to a stomach bug! I became discouraged again and just gave up working altogether! I hate being dependent on my husband, and to make it worse he isn`t to happy about it himself neither is his family! I hate Fibro it has completely ruined the kind of person that I was so happy being. I am very discouraged that none of the meds seem to work,or continue to for very long. I think it is difficult for others to understand fibro because you really don`t look very sick on the outside and even though at times I feel like I am truly dying it isn`t going to kill you,So it seems the attitude of others is stop being a cry baby and get over it already! I have only been Married for a year and 5 months I am so worried about the stress this is causing in my marriage I love my husband very much, I am currently seeking a new job,any tips on what sort of job I should seek even if it is only a few hours a day I think it would make me feel much less like a burden and more independent. I Hate Fibro! Thank you so much for letting me vent .

I know how you feel. My husband waxes and wanes on the whole fibro thing. I don't blame him some of the time because due to fatigue I am kind of a messy person. It's just easier to pick clean clothes out of a laundry basket all week then putting all of the clothes away. A lot of times he thinks that I am lazy and we fight about it now and then. Last Sunday I had a migraine all day and pretty much stayed in bed. I called out of work sick on Monday even though I had some important meetings. The migraine and the fatigue were just too bad to even consider going to work. I was in bed all day again and when my husband came how he got angry that I had left the cream out on the counter after making some coffee. To me it was a success that I even did i. But, we have a loving marriage and we are happy and try not to let it get in the way. As for working, have to disclosed to human resources that you have fibro? They are obligated to give you accommodations that will help you do your job.

Sorry to hear about your difficulties. What I would suggest is that you take your husband along to your next appt. with your doctor (perhaps he or she is a rheumatologist) who can try to explain to your husband what you're going through.

Next I would work on trying to help yourself naturally through a healthy diet, gentle exercise like walking, supplements, trying to keep your stress to a minimum, and taking a sleep supplement if you're having trouble sleeping like most of us do.

My rheumatologist told me that many people with fibro are medication sensitive. I am one of those.

Know that what you do at home is very important. Just because you can't work right now, doesn't make you undependable or lazy. You do a lot at home. It is a shame it takes two to work now, but know that your work at home is not in vain. You are still an important and productive person.

Take this one day at a time. Try not to be disappointed because it is hard for you to work right now. I couldn't work for years, but then I got my fibro under control and went back for awhile. I am not working now, but do a lot at home.

Know you are a valuable individual.

I find pulling drawers in and out and hanging clothes up can be very hard on me. So a lot of times I choose to lay hang ups over the dresser, fold and put things back in the basket etc.

Back to the spoon theory, depends what else is going on or needs to be done depends on what I do with laundry.

My hubby to be is very supportive, but he goes to the Dr with me, and any information I have found on fibro I share with him, and I also share some of these posts with him so he sees it is a valid problem and not just me.

Welcome to the fibro family :)

Learning to live with chronic illness is not easy...it does take time. I went through stages of grief initially...like I was mourning the loss of my good health. Sadness and anger are something you work through and eventually you find acceptance.

Once you find acceptance, life becomes easier. I still have days where I have a pity party but they are short lived.

We all have purpose...we shouldn't feel shame or feel responsible for fibro. Doing what we can to feel better, through exercise, eating right and living with hope and a positive attitude helps us. Having a chronic pain condition does not make us worthless.

Being proactive empowers me, I now feel like I have some control. I try not to dwell on my pain, but keep busy doing things I enjoy. We do have the ability to live fulfilling lives but first we need to believe it is possible...feeling helpless or hopeless will only drag us down. Our lives won't be exactly the same but our worth does not depend on whether or not we can work outside the home.

I've learned that being angry was a waste of my energy...once I let it go to focus on the good things in life, it became a lot easier.

Thank you so much to everyone. It is such a help to know that all of you are on here with fantastic advise! I have had some better days.I am also hopeful that my husband and his family will come to except that Fibro is a real thing and I think taking him to the doctor with me is a great ideal.Hopefully his family will follow his lead ,if he comes to understand then maybe they will follow. on another note I take 50mg of tramadol (when needed) ,20mg of citalopram daily ,50mg indomethacin 3 times daily, and 50mg amitriptyline nightly. I have cut back on artificial sweeteners ,I do light stretching and exercise (except on very bad days) . If anyone knows of anything else that seems beneficial such as supplements and which ones seem to be best, I would love some suggestions.

My Dr has me taking 800 mg magnesium, 25 mg DHEA a day along with meds.

Have your hubby read the spoon theory also!

And I want to have him read the spoon theory,I just have to figure out a way to bring it up I think a trip with me to the doctor first and then I`ll hit him up with that,lol Thanks again So glad that I am not in this alone but I wish we would all wake up with out it at the same time,Thanks again
