Zak,
You're definitely not alone! I'm one of the older ones, but though it is rarer, we do have young people on this forum. It's all relative - my mother in law, who's 82, hasn't a clue where I'm coming from, has never understood about my fibro (or even tried to) and runs circles around me. I know she thinks I'm just lazy and lack character and motivation. So being older doesn't necessarily make people more likely to believe us.
Take a look at the "fibro 101" post at the top of our list. You'll find lots of great and helpful info on different subjects - symptoms, coping mechanisms, theories and research, etc. One thing we can all pretty much agree on is that sitting or lying too much usually makes our pain worse, in the long run. Of course, the extent to which we can exercise varies a LOT...just like the meds that help us, diets, and just about everything else.
I hope you'll stick around so we can get to know you. We really like to help eachother out!
Debbie
