Years ago, I was a weight consultant...the program focused on real food and taught nutrition. Proper nutrition meant that all the essential nutrients...carbos, fats, protein, vitamins, minerals and water were in our diet to maintain good health.
Carbos are a great source of energy and they help regulate protein and fat metabolism, they are in sugars and starches.
Each nutrient has a function. Sugars and starches are converted to glucose and that is used by the tissues of the brain, nervous system and muscles. The excess is converted to fat. Fruit does have more nutritive value than a
cookie...but an occasional
cookie does not send my body into a flare.
Personally, I know if I'm eating too many sweets in one day, chances are I'm not eating enough of the other essential nutrients....for me moderation is key. I do feel better since I've cut back on the refined sugar...but I'm not ready to call sugar toxic.
Hugs, Robin
I just wanted to add that I know I'm not the picture of wonderful health...but my hubby who has been eating my meals for years and years is. We can only do so much and the rest is up to fate.
