My neurologist gave me a starter pack for savella. Started taking it and they called in a script to the pharmacy for me. called a few minutes ago, with my Cigna insurance, 1 month supply: 80.00! I can not do this. I am looking for some help online and found one place i can have the dr fill out every 3 months and maybe get approved for free 3 month supply. Checking to see if since i have insurance for meds that it will not apply to me. I hate asking them to fill it out. Probly will cost me for them to do it with my luck. Gonna talk to my regular PC this thursday and talk to them about it.

This has happened a few times to me. I wanted to try Lunesta for sleep, but my insurance won't pay for it. I used to be on Rozerem (two jobs ago) and loved it, but it is an 80 buck prescription here. Insurances vary widely, which is a real bummer.

-sigh- You can try and see what they will come up with, but there is no guarantee. Poor doctors, they don't know when they prescribe it how much or little it will end costing the patient.

Found this website: www.forestpharm/pap going to my pcp after dh gets home to talk to her about filling it out for me. She understands my financial situation as dh had a "talk" with her about prescribing costly meds for me. I think she will fill it out. They will not tell me what the income level is for being approved. So we will see.

Also a lot of pharmuecutical companies can work deals on their prescriptions if you give them a call. My grandmother has had to do it and she got her medicine for 75% off. Could be worth a try. Good luck.

When i was looking online, i found several companies will help, but only if you do not have any drug insurance.

A prescription my rheumy wanted me to take for ankylosing spondylitis cost over $2,000 for ONE prescription! When they told me that at the pharmacy I burst out laughing. You Have GOT to be kidding me! No I don't take that. I'd have to sell my home.

a laugh was my reaction when i called the kroger's for the price. dh's reaction was a little different. not exactly printable here.

My glaucoma medicine costs me $125. My asthma med is $235. It's rediculious!

I also have Cigna and if I use their mail order pharmacy I can get the rx for $60 for a three month supply. My cost for two months of an approved non-generic rx. You may want to look into that and see if it is available to you. It is the only way I can afford Savella. It is over $100 a month for me if I go to a regular pharmacy.
