Racing heart when startled. Side effect or fibro symptom?!

I've been taking 300mg 2x of gabapentin for a few weeks now. Last week, something loud startled me awake and my heart was about to pound out of my chest. It took a few minutes to calm down.
Then today, I got super excited about winning a contest and once again, my heart starting pounding out of my chest, making me feel kind of dizzy and uneasy. It took a few minutes to get myself back together.
It only seems to happen when I'm really excited or startled (so far), and it's a feeling I have never felt before, not even the anxiety attacks I have from time to time do that!
I'm not on anything else other than the gabapentin.
Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a side effect or another fibro symptom?
The first time it happened, I was like, wow, that was strange. The second time, well, now I know something is up!

One of the side effects....

Cardiovascular System: Frequent: hypertension; Infrequent: hypotension, angina pectoris, peripheral vascular disorder, PALPITATIONS, tachycardia, migraine, murmur; Rare: atrial fibrillation, heart failure, thrombophlebitis, deep thrombophlebitis, myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, pulmonary thrombosis, ventricular extrasystoles, bradycardia, premature atrial contraction, pericardial rub, heart block, pulmonary embolus, hyperlipidemia, hypercholesterolemia, pericardial effusion, pericarditis.

I guess it is palpitations. For whatever reason, I always thought those were random, like sitting on the couch then all of a sudden your heart got going for no reason. I've been taking gaba since Oct 11 100mg, 3x, and upped my dose to the 300 twice a day Oct 19th. I'm supposed to up it again to 300mg 3x.
I suppose it is helping slightly, my fog hasn't been too bad & there are more tolerable days between the bad days.
Now I'm just scared of getting scared/startled again or too excited about something :/

We almost hit a deer on the way home tonight & that didn't set it off. Very strange.

After the little episode this afternoon and realizing that something is up, I've been a bit on egde and anxious. So glad I have klonopin.

Sappho- I suffer from a high heart rate. My doctor did all the expensive test on me. Sometimes just lying in bed it was normal then standing up checking it was high. Be never could find the reason. He did order medication callled attenol. It really does help with little side effects. To this day I am senstive to some meds that will cause my heart rate to jump all over the place. Meds like sudafed or vitamin B complex. You might be just like me.

I've never really took notice of what my heart rate is. I have a blood pressure monitor somewhere, maybe I should pull it out.

I've had tachycardia off and on for many years. I've also had not one, but 2 nuclear stress tests (normal) and an EKG that showed it was a benign type...so now I try not to worry about it.

Sometimes it'll happen when I'm stressed, but just as often it's from nothing whatsoever. But sometimes it lasts for half a day or so, and it does wear me out.

My mom also had it, and eventually she had to take meds because it got so fast it was dangerous, and wouldn't ever right itself.  I'm hoping mine doesn't progress to that level.
