I'm prescribed up to 4 percocet per day for Fibro but only really need that much in bad weather and/or when I'm working more than 2 days - I work 12 hr shifts sitting at a computer.
I do a stretch of 6 days in a row and more often than not, am taking 4 percs per day after the first 3 days. This finds me dependent pretty quick but I always wean off within 1 or 2 days of finishing work. There is no other medication that allows me to control my pain as well and there are people in my life that view this as an excuse to take a narcotic.
What they don't know or see is what I'm like when I wean myself off - I use a presently illegal herb to soothe the withdrawal and take care of the pain - luckily there is one such Doc within 50 miles and it seems more and more are acknowledging this as a completely legitimate and effective alternative to narcotics, particularly in
treating Fibromyalgia.
That said, I don't worry about
what others think about
my taking powerful drugs for my pain 'cause they don't know my pain! My eldest brother is quite convinced that Fibro is a disease of the mind and I'm just trying to get high - RO*****!!
When the pain's bad, I can take 2 percs at once and that just cuts the pain - there is no other effect.
If those who doubt the legitimacy of
Fibro pain could walk in my shoes for one day - preferably a cold, damp one - they'd surely get a heck of a surprise! It's too bad these drugs have such a negative connotation attached but we can't do anything about
that - Take care of yourself in whatever manner works best and let everyone else do the same!

Sorry Brian, I had to take one sentence out of your post. Against the rules... If you ever feel the need to talk about it, feel free to email me...
