I have congnitive problems at times with my fms.

sx's include:

bewilderment

concentration problems

trouble with speech at times.

at its worst, its difficult to speak, I have to make a real effort just have a conversation. there have been a few times were i was talking and all of a sudden i lost my train of thought and couldnt remember what i was trying to say.

this does go away and last only a short time but its kind of scarey.

Ive heard of this happening with fms.

feedback always apprietiated. :-)

Yep, very normal. I have to really concentrate to make sure I say the right word. I also will sometimes forget things, as I am speaking. I manage to play it off, since I have a kind of goofy personality. But, yes, sometimes people notice. I do notice I reserve my best concentration for work. At home, I give myself a little more slack. I hate it when my students have to fill in a word for me, but, again, I play silly and everyone just thinks I am a dingbat, which I am kind of okay with.

I have similar issues. My mom too. I call her disney.,,,,just gotta laugh. havent found anyting that works as good as that. And I try not to care how others may recieve it.
Have noticed that the more I worry with it, the worse it gets (or the worse it bothers me???).

Sometimes I think about alz. (it runs in my family too), but I am only 35 ....darn...36...(see) : )

It loves to pester me. I even went for an evaluation with a psychologist to find out if I was showing early signs of dementia.@@

I was so scrambled today and trying to Christmas shop with my niece. I couldn't think so I let her shop and I paid for what she picked out.

Oh yes, I hate it. It really affects me at school I used to be able to write papers no problem. Now I get so frustrated while trying to write them because I know what I want to say but I can't put it into words on paper. My grades have dropped significantly, before I got diagnosed I thought I was losing my mind.

I'm actually going to get tested for learning disabilities that I have read can develop with FMS. Then I'm going to go from there with trying to fix my record...

Always happens to me! Kids and hubby throw in my words for me so it helps in public, just looks as though they are jumping in to talk!

That happens to me all the time, I wondered constantly if I was loosing my mind. Sometimes when I talk it isn't just trying to get the words out but I also sound like I'm drunk because I slurr some of the words togeather. I finally just had to laugh at myself. There isn't much I can do to control it. The harder I try the worse it gets. Well at least your not alone it's frustrating but It is part of having wonderful Fibro :)

I know many of my Dr's don't believe in fibro fog. They try to figure it out with testing. One of my Dr's says it has to do with our sleep pattern. They just really don't understand when I tell them how bad it can get. I just learned not to stress over it as much.

When fibro fog hit me I was so frightened.  I thought I had the beginning of Alzheimer's.  Now that I know what it is, I have found that just laughing at myself or excusing my memory problems helps.  When I fretted over it, I couldn't remember a single thing!  I do tell people I have a cognitive memory problem due to an illness I have and then drop it.  Most people don't know what that means anyway so they don't say anything in case it makes them looks uninformed.  smilewinkgrin
