OT... Someday I'll be part of a window

While in Wisconsin this past week, I talked hubby into buying our final resting places...what a strange experiance. We went to the mausoleum and decided we both will be cremated. I never knew they had so many options for cremains. After looking, we decided to choose marble niches that align together with stained glass to form a large stained glass window.

For all those who told me I make a better door than a window, I'll show them.

LOL. Dh wants to be cremated though we have plots in the graveyard across the lane from where we live. Who ever is the last one living, will be able to literally look out the front window and see the grave site.

I told my niece to cremate me and bring me home with her. So she will always have me hanging around her. :))

Naw, I said they could give me the cheapest funeral possible and mom said they would dig a hole in the backyard for me next to the cat. (ROFL!)

I have it set that my body is being donated to science after any organs are used for donation to help someone else. Many of our family members have chosen this.

Then it's just about having a "celebration of life party" (yep..this is what we call it) where there are photos, food, music, drinks, and people that gather to remember the loved one in a positive and uplifting way.

This is based on our faith in God in that our souls are in a better place and it's a celebration of that person's life and how they affected others.

I think it's wonderful that people think ahead about this no matter what their age as well as setting everything in place for what to do about their children if minors, their will, and what to do as an Executer (and whom is chosen as the Executor) as probate and settling an estate is very complicated.

I had my will and power of Attorney already taken care of several years ago and a nice fat life insurance policy to pass on the survivors.

Mom says that about dad. We have told him if he dies unexpectedly, we will have her investigated.

AV, I had mine done by a local lawyer for $200. He did the filing and everything. I just gave him a list of who gets what and he did the rest.

My town has a small city cemetary down the road from me, in front of the water treatment plant (LOL!). They say if you live in the town you only pay $300 for a plot. Out of towners pay $600. I guess that's why most of the residents in my town are elderly. (LOL!)
