Hi there. This is my first time actually contributing to the forum although i have been avidly reading what you have all written.
I have finally been diagnosed and really the diagnosis changes nothing except that now my friends can google it!
The honesty in which each of you responds to one another is brilliant and the support from all over the world is amazing.
I am in Darwin Australia and whilst i do not know anyone here with fibro i will now remember to ask you all instead.
Today is a good day for me so i found the courage to write.

It is great to have this place. So many different with different pasts and experiences all brought together by an illness that we each are fighting our way through. I come here when I'm feeling overwhelmed because so many of you are very inspirational. I may bring a slight sense of humor to the table but others bring wisdom and others sympathy.
So it takes one fibro board to raise a fibromite to not be so grumpy. :P

Welcome to the Ouchie Corner.
I look at this place as "I'm not going crazy- I really do hurt." Board.

I couldn't figure out why I was in so much pain all of the time when I didn't do anything to hurt myself. At least I have answers now.

Watina- I hope you find this forum as supportive as I have. i have learned so much here. I feel like my Dr's need to be on this forum so they could learn a thing or two. I hope you contine to be around and feel free to ask questions.

My Dad would go to Australia frequent. We had guest all the tme from Australia at my house. They lived in the outback. I was a teenager at the time and I thought they were the coolest people on earth.

Hi, Watina. Welcome!

I'm glad you decided to chime in. We are a friendly bunch, as you've seen. Since you've been reading posts for awhile, you've probably also noticed Fibro 101, our 1st thread....but if not, it's a great resource for all kinds of information.

You said "finally" diagnosed - did you go through a whole long rigamarole beforehand? Me too - most of us, I think. No fun.

Welcome! You are definately in the right place..this is one of the best bunch of people I know :)

Sorry you had to go thru what most here have in getting diagnosed. It stinks when no one believes you, or thinks it is all in your head!!
I am glad you have been lurking in the shadows and getting to know us, and we look forward to getting to know you too..

Hi, Watina, and welcome!  I was a lurker, too, before I decided to join.  I had never been on a forum before and didn't know what to expect so I sat back and watched for a little bit.  But I'm glad I joined in.  We have a wonderful group of members who love to help one another and, as a bonus, we really do care about each other, too!  I think you will like it here.

 

As Debbie suggested, please read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum.  There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.  There are even good things that you can print out and give to friends if they are interested in knowing anything about fibromyalgia.  Good starting links for you would be the ones called Symptoms and A Thorough Explanation of Fibromyalgia.  The very first links when you open Fibro 101 tell what doctors think is causing this illness.  The jury is still out on this but it certainly makes sense to me.
