That was nice of  you trying to be courteous to your friend but actually your friend wasn't courteous or show respect to you for ordering it anyway.  If this comes up again, tell them to order the drink minus the alcohol.  You would appreciate that drink.  If one with alcohol is ordered anyway I'd just let it sit there and waste their money.

 

You have health problems and probably are taking medications, too.  You should never drink when taking medications.  Alcohol generally enhances the medication and that's not good.  You are paying the price because your friend didn't respect your wishes.  Don't let people treat  you like that.  You need to stand up to things like this because you are trying so hard to feel better. 

 

Hope you DO start feeling better as the day wears on.  Sorry you had to go through this.

My sincere sympathy for your misery after drinking alcohol. I cannot drink alcohol period! I used to like to drink beer with my husband on the weekend...we would relax with a few and have good conversation. I don't know when it started to happen, but I began to suffer severe problems the next day after drinking...heart palps, chest pain, anxiety and almost unable to think. The nightmare feelings would take hours to subside. My husband wondered if I was allergic to alcohol. I stopped drinking completely and it's been five years now that I last had a drink. I don't know if it would happen again if I drank today, but I don't want to try and find out! I have enough misery without adding more. If someone offers me a drink I just do like Mrs. Reagan said...I just say NO!

You're right Sherrine.. I need to just say 'no.. I'm allergic' regardless of how that makes me look because people just don't get it..

I'm feeling a little better now... but when I woke up I had that feeling.. you guys know the feeling.. its just 'off'... not necessarily pain in my body but more so that my mood isn't right.. and not just mood but a feeling of not being 'well' in mind and body. I hate that feeling.

When I first took a sip I felt it burn down my throat (I never really liked alcohol anyway) and then about two minutes later I started feeling disoriented as if I couldn't tell where I was in relation to my surroundings.. I don't know if that makes sense to you all but its a directional issue and I know its related to FM because I have it when I'm in a fog. Its difficult to articulate but I hate, hate, hate it. I still managed to have fun dancing with my friend once that feeling wore off a bit.

Dancing is my drug... I love it and its liberating. I never needed a substance to have fun or let loose.. I wish people didn't expect me to drink... that's always gotten on my nerves and I've never been a drinker even before I had FM.

Nice drink!!Alcohol makes me feel awful! Someone suggested just last night that I start drinking wine instead of taking my meds because "it does the same thing, but is more natural." I try to explain that, um, no....wine doesn't help my pain, and I'm not taking the meds to get a buzz, but their eyes have already glazed over at that point. (sigh) That old pain's-in-your-head thing we all know so well...
