Hi
First I will give you a bit of in overview. I have Fibromyalgia and RA. I am 20 years old. I started showing signs of RA in my legs when I was around the age of 2. I was diagnosed when I was 6 and by the time I was 8 or 9 it had started attacking all of my joints. So here is my first question if anyone can answer it. How often is it for someone to have RA in all of there joints? I have always wondered if there are a lot of people with it like that or not so many. I was diagnosed with Fibro when I was 8 but it was not put on the record. It did not become bad until about a year and a half ago when I got a really bad throat infection and an emotional shock. I was diagnosed a year ago. So here comes my other question, what medicines work for fibro? I have tried Lyrica and it made me really dizzy and I slept for most of the short time I was on it. Blue cross won’t cover Cymbalta because they will only cover it for someone who has diabetes; even through it is used for fibro. I am on Gabapentin with occasional Elavil right now but the Gabapentin is possibly making my legs swell up really bad or it might be the RA, but I was on anti-inflammatory’s for a month and the swelling did not go down so I really don’t know what it is. What medications are there out there that help? There is a 99.9% chance that I will someday get the side effects from the meds so I can really only take stuff that does not have really bad side effects. I would love if someone could help; I am going to stay on the meds that I am on now for the time being since I am going to school full time and the brain fog and pain are just too much without it. But I want to try some other meds in the future to see if I could get everything back under control. Also I take omega 3 and fish oil along with vitamin D and I am willing to take more vitamins if they help. Also any ways to cope would be great. Thanks
