Question about follow up from disability

Hello everyone,

I was recently approved for disability due to fibro and other related problems. I applied and was turned down by SS 3 times, it finally took a lawyer to get my case approved. Anyway, I was wondering my case is to be reexamined in two years to see if I still need disability. My question is, will it be a hearing again?(since it was approved this way) and if it's SS who is the one just examining my case, they turned me down three times, I am pretty certain they would find reasons to stop it again and say I am back to normal. Do I need to use my lawyer again if I feel I still need disability? Has anyone crossed this line yet? I really think SS would not approve it because they turned me down three times already.

My sister who was born with brain damage is on disability. She gets a call every so often where they do an interview over the phone. Mom pretty much tells them that things are the same. Once you get it, it is much easier to keep it. Once she got a letter saying they were cutting her off, when mom told the lady that they needed time to get an appt with her lawyer to help, my sister got a letter about 10 days later, saying she was reapproved.

I have also seen them try to tell a paralyzed woman she was no longer disabled.

They send a copy of any correspondance to your atty on record.

See a dr every so often to keep showing that you have problems. It will help. If the  drs keep records then it will be easier to say, yes, i still have problems. Good luck, but do not worry.

I applied for disability through SS and I was a recent widow.  I was accepted the first time I applied but I had numerous illnesses along with a severe hearing impairment.  Because I was a widow, they started giving me my SS early.  I wasn't expecting that.  I only get 71% of what I would have gotten if I could have waited.  BUT I also got Medicare which was a Godsend.  I was 50 at the time.  The main reason I applied for disability was because I couldn't get anyone to insure me after my husband died and I lost his insurance.

 

But if this is the route you are taking and do get SS disability, you probably won't have to be approved over and over again.  I have never been asked a single thing since I got this and it's been 15 years.  So I guess it's the type of disability you can receive.

I think it depends on what you get the disability for. I have a friend that had to have a hearing and produce more records after being on it for 2 years.
