The best thing is give them a call and they will direct you to go on line to fill out paper work. Then they will offer to call you to talk to you about
why your applying. You have a choice to talk with them on the phone or go in person to the social security in your city. I have done both and I like talking in person better. It is about
1 hr appointment.
You have to have all your dr's on your side. They send them paper work to be filled out. If you have a dr. that doesn't agree with your disability, don't put them down.
Once you get all the paper work done find out who your case worker is. This way you can call them and see if they are getting your Dr. Records on time. If not you can help them by calling yourself to help push it along. This happen to me and it took 9 months to get my disability.
They will send two packages to you to fill out on what you can do such as daily activity. Then they will ask you to let a spouse or caretaker do the same and they have to put what they think you can do. Just be honest on this and think of it as your worse day. Because having fibro we never know what a few hrs is going to be like.
Just remember you have to be ready to stop work when you file. This means no income for a long time. You might have a spouse or other help? In my case I was on my death bed and I had no choice. I couldn't of made it without my long term disability. It paid me while I was waiting or social security. I still receive it with my social security.
