On days when I'm not up to a huge load of laundry, I sometimes wash out a few things in the bathroom sink, then let them air dry.
For example, some family members wear wool socks. I use either a bit of liquid detergent or dishwashing soap or even a little scented bubble bath, rinse well, squeeze out as much water as possible, then hang them over the edge of my laundry basket to dry overnight. Maybe you could do the same? If your air is as dry as ours is in the winter, things dry quite fast. If you have a hairdryer, fan, or heat register, that could speed things along, too.
Laundry (at least to me) is hard work--especially when one is already really tired!
