Fibromyalgia

Hi, and welcome! Your doctor said it was your thyroid. Are you on any medications for hypothyroidism? Many with fibro do have hypothyroidism. If your primary care doctor hasn't helped in that area an endocrinologist would be a good doctor to see.

Also, with fibro you need to keep moving. If you sit or lay too much you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. If you get moving that helps with circulation and that helps move oxygen into your cells and you would have more energy. Gentle exercises like walking, swimming, and yoga are good for fibro. I walk daily and I pace myself when taking care of my house. That's exercise, too. Always ask your doctor but I bet he/she would be happy if you started a walking program. It's considered one of the best exercises and with your heart problems you do have to be careful.

I do take a couple of supplements that help with pain and fatigue. They are malic acid/magnesium supplements and vitamin D 3 supplements. There are links about these in the first thread on the forum called Fibro 101.

Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info a out fibro and you will learn a lot there. I've had fibro nearly 26 years and I'm still learning new things.

Hi, Mercelina.

I've found, too, that if I sit too long (like I do at night on the computer, sometimes for an hour and a half) I always pay for it. Just getting up and walking around the house for a few minutes helps.

And I have low thyroid. I'm still tired with the pills, but maybe not quite as much as before.
