Very bad flare

Today i had the worst flare ever, the whole works, pain everywhere, arms and legs heavy, tired and sleepy and what's worst i had to go shopping with my daughter so u can imagine how that was.
I have just started Lyrica 6days ago along with muscle relaxants, antidepressants and calibrex. Can a flare that bad happen right after i started the medication ?

Hi there...Don't think we have "met" yet...

Are you saying that you started ALL those medications at once? And you put plural for the antidepressant and muscle relaxer, so does that mean you are taking two or more of each every single day?

I guess I just have a huge issue with Drs. who throw a bunch of medications at someone all at one time as there is no way to know what is actually working and what isn't...As well as there can be side effects from fatigue to nausea and you would not know which one is causing it.

Obviously I'm not a MD....just have years of experience as a patient and the best Drs. I have seen only start with one medication at a time.

For my Fibro...I only use one muscle relaxer, Flexeril, every so often when needed. The rest of my treatment is daily exercise, stretching, aqua therapy, yoga, eating well, drinking lots of water, massage therapy, acupuncture, counseling, brain teaser activities like puzzles and Jeopardy, and finding things that give me joy each day!

So, the long answer to your question is absolutely....you could be having a lot of added issues due to the amount of meds you just started.

Right now i take Lycra, Ixel( antidepressant), calibrex, multi relax and vit B. I ve gone for about 10 yrs without any medication (i was in denial) so i think he wants to lessen the symptoms some what, but it's only for 2 wks.

Thanks for sharing more....I'm not sure I know what "Calibrex" is...do you mean Celebrex? I'm thinking you are not in the U.S. so medications may be named differently?

And you say "It's only for two weeks"....Do you mean he is only giving you meds for 2 weeks only? Most of the prescription meds you are taking are not meant to be started or stopped abruptly so they need to be tapered slowly....even if you only take them for a few weeks...

Most meds take at least a month to sort out dosages and have any side effects start to subside.

Again, medications are certainly a choice that we all have to make with our Drs...I was just concerned about them having you start so many of them all at once....

Yea I live in Egypt it is celebrex, he said after 2wks we will see if i get any better and then decide what to continue and what not to. I get ur pt snow, i too was concerned about the number of medications i ve been given, but ill see what happens in these 2wks of which 6 days have already passed.

Yes snowbunny is right they take a month or even two months to kick in,never 2weeks,but after the 2weeks pills slowly come of them tho as if you dont,you wont feel that well,its crazy the side effects with alot of medications as alot of these anti-d or pregabaling gives you what you already have as a problem so whats the point,i dont think theres one med out there that helps chronic pain,as havent come across one yet,hope you havent had anymore flare ups,have been out with my daughter re a big flare agree its the worst ever feeling,best wishes XX

I absolutely have had flares from starting new meds. Since you started so many at once you won't even be able to tell which one(s) it may be. Drug sensitivities are pretty common with Fibromyalgia. I have had quite a lot of drugs (and even some supplements) make me feel worse. Why did your doctor start you on so many different meds all at the same time? How will you even be able to tell if any of them are helping, which one(s) it is? And how will you be able to tell if you're getting any side effects, which drug it is from? I would discuss this with your doctor. Although if you have the type of doctor that puts you on 4 new drugs at once you might not have the type who listens/understands when you say you believe it may have triggered a flare. Some doctors just like to say you need to keep taking them longer or that you need more meds. Best of luck to you <3
