Tomorrow is my 4 month follow up with my Rheumy. I've got to remember to talk to him about some odd things to see if he can help me there or it's just something to expect. Also he's got to fill out some paperwork for me for my lawyer. :P

I've got some strange popping in two of my knuckles (ring & middle fingers) on my left hand. When they pop I can feel my wrist pop and my sore elbow pop. The knuckles are puffy too. That shoulder will hurt sometimes too. I'm a lefty. shakehead

I'm plagued with pains in my right knee and my toes hurt to the lightest of touches. I was driving today and it hurt so bad to press on the gas & brake pedals. smhair   I've got to wear my sandals or flip flops to visit him tomorrow.

My back hurts if someone rubs their hand down it. My mother almost got hit by me when she was dusting off some bits of paper stuck to my back. nono

Make sure to write all this down so you can go over it all with your doctor and I hope your appointment goes good, keep us posted and I hope you can get some answers to most of this, good luck....many well wishes...

Mine is tomorrow for my first visit. I am not sure what to expect, but was told it would be 2.5-3 hours long...

I told him about my knuckles popping, arm hurting, toes being painful, skin being tender. His response is "Fibro". He said since I can't take Nsaids or muscle relaxers the only thing he can recommend is physical therapy. I told him I had no insurance right now, no job (because I can't work due to the pain and no one would hire me due to my illnesses).

He took pity on my bawling (yes, I cried) and said he would fill out the forms for my lawyer, but the main office might charge me for the paperwork. I hope he tells the lawyer how much I need the SSDI.

Joy, there is an all natural product that helps with pain and I used it when I couldn't take ibuprofen for a while. It's called Curamin. It contains four herbs...the main one being Tumeric. Google it and see what it says and if it's something you might try. My Internist said it was fine for me. I do know that if you take antidepressants you shouldn't take it because it has something called DLPA...I think that's what it was. But people with arthritis have gotten a lot of relief and I did, too.

Also, malic acid/magnesium supplements might help you, too. Just a coup,e of ideas.

Then that's out for me. I take Paxil.
I'm not allow magnesium because of kidneys. I can't find just plain malic acid in my area.

It frustrates me to no end in my limitations of my medicines.

I have similar limitations on my medications because of kidney issues. I use voltaren gel on my knees. It's not an NSAID and it really helps fight the pain. I'd call and ask your Rheumy about that as an option.

It is crazy trying to get relief when you are so restricted in what you can take. I have talked to pharmacists and many doctors but there's just not much out there. Good luck and I hope voltaren works for you.

Just FYI but Voltaren gel is a NSAID....It just doesn't get processed through the kidney's like an oral pill (Advil, etc.)...

My mom has stage two kidney disease and also has knee pain/inflammation and is prescribed the Voltaren Gel as it works directly on the affected areas but is much safer than oral NSAIDs for the kidneys.

Couch...may I ask what is the reason that you can't take a muscle relaxer?

I seem to be allergic to many of them, SB. :/

Voltaren gel doesn't seem to help me. I was given it for PF a few years ago and it never stopped the pain. I've even tried it recently with the leftover tubes I had and it didn't ease at all.

So far muscle rubs seem to calm it some.
