Just recently, I found out I can no longer use adhesive bandages without tearing my skin when removing them. I actually end up with bleeding skin abressions. Looking for a product that is as convenient as a bandaid that won't cause  damage to my skin. Any suggestions?

Try those liquid band-aid solutions.
I have the same issue with band-aids pulling my skin off.
I have to tell the nurse who takes my blood to be careful about what she puts on my arm to hold down the bandage.

My skin is very sensitive. Band aids and medical tape break out in itchy red spots. I try to soak the tape and band aids with rubbing alcohol for a minute before trying to remove. That makes it a bit easier to deal with.

As angelic said using alcohol pads works well on taking off sticky ban aides. I use to use them all the time with my patients. It work very well on fragile skin. I try to use only paper tape for fragile skin.

Yes, I would say paper tape, and remove with hot compresses followed by alcohol. My skin is sensitive but not that sensitive!

Thank you all for your suggestions.

I was so surprised to learn that my skin had become that fragile.
My recent leg skin biopsy on 4-17 is still healing. The stitiches were removed on 4-25 and the incision reopened on 4-26. Steri strips were used to reclose the incision. The healing process is taking longer than expected. Went back to the doc yesterday to get it checked. I was concerned about the possibility of necrosis.
Luckily that process is not taking place, and there is no sign of infection. The doc said to keep it clean and uncovered, hoping this speeds up the healing process.

Can't wait to get back on my immunosuppressant...been off of it for a month now. Between the MCTD and fibro flaring, I'm not a happy camper. Woke up with a vascular rash on my foot. It matches the nail polish on my toes :)

I have fragile skin on my fingers, it flairs to the point were it thins, cracks, bleeds and i worry about about picking up a super bug, so i rap them with "bantex" a cohesive safety tape. it only sticks to it's self. mostly see it in green but i have seen it like the bandaid colour. Most GP's said it was dry skin but a Dermatologist told me that my skin cells are not breaking down a cement like compound and end up looking like dry skin. He described Diprosalic Ointment 50g, each gram contains: 0.5mg betamethasone, 30 mg salicylic acid USP. You can find a roll at a work safety store, only need to roll a few times over it, not to tight, you could cut the white part of the bandaid and lay it on it first, one roll will last a long time and it stays on untill you cut it off. Hope this helps...

I have the same problem, Robin, and it drives me crazy. It's worse in Winter. Between that and my nails splitting way down, I'm afraid to breathe on my hands!

Still alive, Thanks for the info on the green sticky tape. I will look for it the next time it is needed. My incision has finally healed. All is left is a dime sized purple scar :) Do you have an autoimmune issue?

Debbie we will have to start wearing white gloves.

The skin at the base of my finger nails looks nasty,cut up cuticles and hang nails. At one time I had nice looking hands. I was told I could be a hand model. lol. Between the scleroderma, raynauds's, and arthritis, my hands look like lobster claws with swollen shiny sausages hanging from them :)
I guess I'll have to wait for another lifetime to become that hand model. LOL

I have the same problems at the base of my nails. Actually, they're better this week than last - at least I have cuticles again....for awhile some of my fingers didn't have any! They just disappeared, and that was painful....I found out they do have a purpose.

I also can't repot plants or do anything in the dirt without gloves, and I really miss getting my hands in it! If any dirt gets under my fingernails it hurts, and if I try to dig it out it makes matters worse.

No chance of me being a hand model either, I'm afraid...there's usually a bandaid covering my thumbnail, looking like a little kerchief - because if I catch the split nail on something, OUCH! As you said, maybe in our next lives ~ ~ :)

I have the same problem. I'm not sure exactly what causes it? Mine was worse with surgery, and having suture tape find my skin

Crazy, I've had the same thing ! If I really had a serious need for a band aid again on my shoulders, I think I might try to leave it on until it was falling off..... or, take a shower with it on, to at least loosen it first.

But after ripping off a square of skin like 3/4" x 3/4" off of my shoulder last year, it ended up worse than the original injury !
It kinda' sucked :(

I had a sore pop up on my belly and needed a bandaid. When I took the bandaid off to change it I took a few layers of skin along with it!
The sores from the bandaid has left a worse scar on my belly than the orginal sore did.
I just can't wear bandaids anymore.

I have an allergy to the adhesive used in bandages. I still will use a a band-aid on my fingers because my Hanna are small so not a lot of adhesive touches my skin. For larger areas I use the non-stick gauze bandages and hold them on with something called paper tape. This seems to work for me.

We fibromites sure are delicate people!

I have really sensitive skin too... I barely ever wear bandaids, if I really need something I'll just use a small bandage instead.

My skin used to be an angry red, bumpy and itchy - and if I used any skincare products with sodium lauryl sulphate or parabens or anything like that, it would crack open and bleed. It literally looked like someone had made short, shallow little cuts all up and down my arms and legs. Recently I switched to using organic skincare with no nasty chemicals in it... and my skin no longer cracks and bleeds, the colour is almost normal now and the bumps have become so small that you have to actually look for them in order to see them. My skin is not as itchy as it used to be, but it does still get itchy from allergic rhinitis (hay fever).
