Hi, KwayKwelee, and welcome! What is happening to you is familiar. I have heard stories of how medications stop working after a few years. This seems to happen with Lyrica, Savella, sometimes Cymbalta, and also with narcotics. It's tough when something has been working and then stops. It's like our body becomes accustomed to the chemicals in the medication and so it doesn't work anymore. But there are other things you can try. Don't let this get you down.
I personally have used ibuprofen with food, extra strength Tylenol, malic acid/magnesium supplements, vitamin D3 supplements, and a prescription muscle relaxer to help with pain and fatigue. I did have significant help with the muscle relaxer.
Another thing that has helped me so much is keeping a positive outlook. I look around and count my many blessings and I do not look for negative things in my life. I look forward to each new day with anticipation because it could be a good one. I also smile a lot and that really lifts my spirits, too.
I've had fibro for 26 years, but I've been in control of the pain, too. I'm still stiff and achey when I get up in the morning and if I've sat too long but I use stretching exercises and get moving and the stiffness gets a whole lot better. I never to a "body check". I just deal with how I'm feeling that day. If you sit or lay too long, you will be stiff as a board and have more pain so it's important to keep moving and pacing yourself when doing things. But just looking at all the blessings you have and all that is around you really does help.
Walking or another gentle exercise helps, too. I don't feel like walking but once I'm out I really enjoy the walk. I watch the critters getting breakfast, see the flowers, puffy clouds, and I check out neighbors' landscaping for ideas. By the time I get home again, I not only have less pain but also less fatigue and my spirits are high. If you don't walk, give it a try!
Be sure to read Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. I'm still learning new things about this illness and I've had it for decades. There are links about the supplements I mentioned and also a link about maintaining a positive attitude with chronic pain.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
