Well, shoot. I was hoping my doctor would give me a magic stretch or prescribe sleeping on my head ....
...but no such luck.
We talked awhile, then he tried to move my arm. He said, "You have a frozen shoulder!" He seemed surprised at how locked-down it is. He said it's not going to get better on its own, and I definitely shouldn't stretch it to the point of pain (which I had been doing...that point comes very quickly.)
He mentioned the surgery where they put you under and yank it unstuck ~ which I already knew about ~ and gave me the name of a good orthopedic shoulder surgeon.
This is bad enough if I could afford the surgery, but I can't even see the surgeon right now....though hopefully I'll be able to before long. In the meantime, my sciatic nerve is beginning to act up, because some of my exercises for that aggravate the shoulder....especially the one that helps my sacrum get back into alignment, which I need pretty much every day.
My whole back is starting to get angry. They are connected, after all...
Bother!!!!
Thanks, Sherrine and Robin, for trying to help me avoid this condition. I think it happened very gradually. (That area's been awfully sore and tight for over 25 years, so as far as how it feels, it's a difference in degree, not kind.)
I figure my best bet for now is to become the epitome of calmess and relaxation. Wish me luck!
