Question for Sherrine re: magnesium

Hi Sherrine

Hope its ok asking you about magnesium malate?

I have just started taking the Magnesium Malate capsules, moving over from the tablets...as these ones are 6 a day, I was wondering if you take them spread out during day or with one meal?

doc said it was ok for me to take these and I have bought ones from fibro 101 column

I am not sure if they make me tired or more energetic and was not sure about taking them near bedtime?

I spread them out. I usually take half in the morning with my other medication, which I take right before breakfast, and the other half right before dinner. I try not to take any medication or supplements on an empty stomach. I'm sure taking two at breakfast, two at lunch, and two at dinner time would work too, but I KNOW I'd forget the lunch dose.

I have to take a muscle relaxer and ibuprofen in the middle of the night so I eat two cheese and peanut butter crackers to help coat my stomach. I've also used sour dough pretzel nuggets. These are just suggestions if you do take magnesium with malic acid without having a meal. You might be just fine not doing this but this is a personal preference for me and I've always taken medication and supplements with food.

Yes I usually take with food also..I just find this helps me remember!

Do you find they give you energy or make you sleepy? My chiro once said to take all magnesium at bedtime because they make you sleepy, but other people take them and say they get more energy...I am always sleepy anyway, so not sure if they make me more energetic or tired?
Or maybe you dont notice a difference with this

I think they do help with muscle pain though, i always can feel when I dont take them...hope you don't mind all the questions

They don't make me sleepy at all. I get more energy and less pain. This doesn't eliminate the pain but it helps and every little bit is very helpful.

In Fibro 101, I put links to these supplements and how they work in the body. I did the same for vitamin D3, which has been very helpful for me, too. So check it out if you haven't already.
