sensitivity to pressure and temperature?

Since my symptoms started, I've found that my pain comes on more if i'm exposed to cold.. such as holding something that i've taken out of the fridge making my arms and wrists ache. Last night I had horrible pains in my lower legs, and then realised that it was my socks - the elastic was apparently the culprit of making everything hurt.

What are the things that make your pains worse? are temperature and pressure things that hurt you as well?

As a new sufferer, are there any hints or tips for things I should avoid or things that I could do to lessen the effects?

My worst enemy is winter. When it's too cold, everything just refuse to co-operate. It does make getting up a lot harder. Being in more pain.

I do find some constriction helps elevate pain, eg leggings. They do help with the sciatic pain.

I can't really stand the tropics either, when it's too hot I get fatigue quite easily. But still more bearable than cold cold weather.

Hot pack helps me through the night. Stretches is always good to loosen those tight muscle due to cold weather.

Eggotchi - do you have Raynauds? You can look it up on line, but many fibromites have it. I have it and I stay away from holding anything cold such as a can for too long. How you really can tell is mix some very cold meat such as meatloaf and if your fingers get severe pain then good chance you have it. I have it in my feet and hands.

I try not to sit very long. If going on a road trip make frequent stops to walk and stretch your body. I also pump my legs for the circulation.

Cold will set my pain off real quick. I use lots of heat. Heating pad and even in the summer I turn my heating blanket on some to relax my muscles.

I find that I'm sensitive to everything: temperature, light, noise, pressure and patterns (and smells when I can actually smell at all, which i normally can't; I suspect I have chronic sinusitis).

Sensitivity to touch is just part of FMS.

Thanks, I'd heard of raynauds and as there's no colour change I don't think that is me... the pain also goes up my wrists rather than being in my fingers, so not sure it fits with me... i will mention it when i next see a gp though...

I think I'm hyper-sensitive to cold. I especially notice it when the weather cools in the Fall, and my body goes crazy! I limp along through the winter and cool Spring, then warmer weather helps once again.

Believe I pretty much hibernate in cold weather.. mentally as well as physically.. when barometric pressure changes I ache.. many of us do. Use heating pads constantly.. no matter how much cover I put on , I am uncomfortable without hot bed buddy (heating pad warmed in microwave) by my feet &by my side (for my fingers & hands)

Hot weather makes me feel kinda faint & feeling lasts for hours after I get back to tolerable temperature..

Am sensitive to almost everything..

texture of bottom / contact w/ shoe area of my socks or inside of shoes.. any clothing or linen that touches my skin.

Sunlight (eyes)

Smells.. perfume, food, etc

Noise levels

Taste buds

Like I said - most things
