More tired than usual cooking....

The breaker on the stove keeps flipping off.

We live in an old two-story place, on the top floor with attic. Every time the breaker flips, I have to go downstairs, walk in back of the house, lift the cellar hatch, go down, flip the breaker, and reverse my steps.

I did this four time last night with dinner. Twice already this morning with my muffins.

Boy, this is getting old.

If you are renting, I'd let the super now about this. That shouldn't be happening and needs to be fixed. It could be dangerous.

Just make sure that if you are renting that YOU actually check and make sure the landlord hires a reputable licensed and insured Electrician out to check things out asap!!! Take a photo of their license and get their insurance carrier. This should all be done whether you own or rent as it's crucial to make sure everything is to "code" and safely done!!

It could be something as simple as it being an old breaker and that needs to be replaced....Or, it could be something extremely dangerous where the wiring is worn out and overheating which can cause a fire!!

Yep, the BF is calling now, from work. It's getting worse, rather than better.

Perhaps doing a turkey yesterday wasn't the smartest....

Yep...should have added that but absolutely agree with Diane...do NOT use until it's sorted out!

Another tip, everyone should have fire extinguishers in their kitchen rated a C which covers electrical fires. A C rating means it covers both A (wood, cloth and paper) and B (greases, gas, and liquids) as well.

The electrician dude is sorting it out this AM.

No serious cooking for me this week... both of us are planning trips for next week, and I am a little anxious about both of them. I keep trying to put the anxiety down, but it follows me like an obedient puppy, and soon runs away with my shoes. BF is headed off to Iowa for a bicycle tour across the state, and my brother and I are headed off to stay with my elderly aunt for a week, organizing stuff and bringing home the family relics. She is going into assisted-living.

Road trip for the middle-aged siblings! Woohoo!!

The electrician popped in by 11. It was, indeed, the breaker. He replaced it, and I turned on the broiler and BOTH the back burners for 5 minutes. He stood by the box, until we were both satisfied it was just the breaker. I thanked the guy profusely, he left, and I started my durned turkey carcass stock. I want it in the freezer before I leave. A broken stove is no reason to ignore a good turkey carcass.

Errands tomorrow. BF to the airport Saturday, and Sunday a ten hour car ride.

With a crazy little 90-YO Irish-American psychologist at the other end. My God, what have I done?

Lol! I'm glad the stove is fixed. Hope your trip is fun despite the sad cause for it. I'm sure you all can make it a pleasant time for remembering the good times. Have fun and be careful.

Is your aunt having a hard time with going into assisted living? That's got to be hard, giving up all the tangible memories of her life....I hope it goes well...

My Aunt is a genuine character. She is having a very hard time with it. She was close with my sister, who died last year. It's going to be a rough trip.
