Hello, new here! Intro- sorry, it's LONG!

Hi, I am new here. I found this site while googling. Allow me to introduce myself! I'm a 27 year old female, diagnosed with fibromyalgia roughly 3 years ago. I was lucky in getting a diagnosis fairly quickly. I've been on several different medications over the years trying to get my pain under control.

Most recently, my Dr prescribed Butrans patch 10mcg/hr. So far, I LOVE it! The pain control this patch gives me is so great!!! Every morning, my pain level was between a 6-8 and on this patch, my pain level is between 3-4 (granted, I've only been on it since Wednesday!). I am also on Xanax 0.5mg 3x/day for anxiety, Flexeril 5mg 2x/day, amitriptyline 25mg at bedtime, and Voltaren 75mg 2x/day for a knee injury.

I agree!! The anxiety can take such a toll on you!! My anxiety is so much better than it used to be, I was at a point about 18 months ago that the Xanax didn't even help! I'm glad your anxiety is getting under control as well, it can be so debilitating!

Thank you, me too! I have my wonderful, amazing boyfriend to thank for helping me with my anxiety. He helps me to put things in perspective and "slow down". I feel bad sometimes that he has to "deal with" me. But, I am extremely grateful he looks past my physical limitations/issues and loves me for me.

Have you noticed "Fibro 101," our 1st thread? Even though you've been diagnosed and treated for a few years, there's info in there that could probably still help you. I'm sorry you've had to deal with Fibro at such a young age, but it sounds like you have a great attitude and that's half the battle!

No need to apologize - your introduction actually was quite short! Some of us go on and on at times! But we're here for support, and there are times when we need a lot of it. The wonderful thing is, we all know that we all "get it" here, even if most of the world still doesn't.

I did read it, thank you!! It was extremely informative and had TONS of great information!! I ended up deleting A LOT of my OP since it became quite long with the different meds I was on, and reacted to, etc, and got to be REALLY long-winded and hard to follow, lol. This new pain patch is awesome, but I am a bit fuzzy and still getting used to it, so my thoughts are a little disorganized right now, lol!

That is very true!! I see so many people who have great relief from Cymbalta and Lyrica- but they both messed me up BAD mentally. Cymbalta gave me 9 panic attacks a day, and after stopping it after only 9 days on it, I went through BAD w/d! Lyrica gave me suicidal thoughts after my Dr tripled my dose (upped it from 50mg 3x/day to 150 2x/day). I'm just waiting for the fuzziness/disorganized thoughts to go away from the patch. I assume my body is still getting used to the 24/7 narcotic pain meds.

Welcome sugar to the forum. I am glad your getting some pain relief. I take a similiar med that is in your patch. Mine is actually the same med but it's sublingal and some stronger. I have used it 4 years. It has given me great relief, especially in the morning. I take mine twice daily. I am having a little trouble with mine now after all these years. I started working out in the gym and got my pain all upset. Now I am having trouble keeping good pain control.

I hope you enjoy the forum. It has really given my life back to me. I have learned how to manage my fibro better. It has taken a few months to perfect, but worth it. I hope many others see how well this med works for you. I have been telling them myself, but not sure too many people want to try it. It is a med that is expensive and you have to go through loops to get it approved.
