Overly Sensitive

I seem to be really sensitive to pain lately. Last night I was using a set of tongs to serve corn at dinner and I pinched my finger, usually no big deal I have done this lots of times. But, the pain was so intense it took my breath away and it felt like an electrical shock ran up my arm, down my side all the way to my toe. Anyone else feel this sensitive or am I just weird?

Could be fibro, could be pain med induced pain. Are you on pain killers? I find when I take my max for a few days that I am way more sensitive to pain. Hyperalgesia, is what it is called. Or like a rebound headache from taking too many Tylenol, etc.

Or maybe you just have a new booboo. :(

I understand - a crack in my fingertip that no one can see will sometimes wake me up in the middle of the night. I put a bandaid on it to keep the air off and go back to sleep.

Stress increases glutamates in the brain - this reduces GABA which controls sensitivity to everything from sounds to chemicals and certainly pain.

Stress also alters the blood brain barrier causing chemical and food sensitivities.

Try having fibro and not being stressed
