Muscle twitches driving me crazy

Hi all,

For the past few weeks, the newest symptom I've been dealing with it my muscles twitching, especially my legs. I don't notice it as much when I'm busy but if I'm trying to relax then it starts to bother me, like I can't just be still. I researched it and it appears on the list of fibro symptoms. Does anyone us have this and if so, is there anything you do to make it stop?

If you find out how let me know I twitch like I have mexican jumping beans in me half the time, especially when I'm fatigued.

I take a muscle relaxer and that helps. Sometimes just soaking in a hot bath with some calming bath oils will help.

I wish I could take muscle relaxers I'm allergic to almost everyone.

Are you on any new meds. Sometimes meds will cause this. I can usually tell you if I knew your med list. I am a retired nurse.

Muscle twitching can be caused by a deficiency in magnesium.

Hello everyone,

It is nice reading all of your posts and it's very nice to know I am not going crazy! Although, I do have a question, does anyone have twitches in the face and mouth where it affects your speech? It feels really weird when it happens and is annoying because it makes me stop talking and start my conversation over. I guess you could say it makes me stutter. I sometimes feel a state of confusion during the occurrence. For that reason it actually scares me. Does anyone know if this is normal with fibromyalgia? I take Lyrica and Ultram for it.

Hi, Jazmen. Nice to have you aboard.

I think I'd see a neurologist, too...that really does sound annoying! Take a look at our first thread, "Fibro 101," for a list of symptoms and other great information. I'm not sure if what you're describing is a symptom of Fibro or not.

Feel free to start a new thread, with "newbie" or something in the title to get it noticed, and tell us a little more about yourself. We are very supportive!

YES! I have twitches. One bout lasted over 36 hours straight. We were on our way to Colorado and the temperature change made them kick in. They absolutely drive me nuts. Mine come and go thank goodness.

i am not a MD. Baclofen, a muscle relaxant that is not a controlled Rx, works similar to benzodiazipines like Valium is often used by spinal cord injury quads or parapeligics that have clonus or twitching of legs. Zanaflex (tizanidine) is used for same reason and can improve sleep. Klonopin (clonazepam) prob the more powerful antispasicity agent of these 3. it is a C3 controlled. Magnesium in form magnesium taurinate or mag glycinate calm muscle nerons.
