Anna,
I have a daughter (who's also named Anna, btw) who is extremely bendy. As a child, she used to "fold herself" almost in 2 and hide in a tiny closet. Once, she fell while skiing and her leg was actually turned backwards when my husband went to rescue her. Yet she was fine! There didn't really seem to be a downside to this when she was young...she'd brush her hair with her foot, bend her thumb all the way back to her arm, etc. I questioned her doctor and he said not to worry.
But now that she's in her early 20s, not so much. She had to wear a knee brace for a few weeks because her knee just "gave out" when she was casually dancing at a club...her ankle rolls really easily...and her back is prone to injury, too. A physical therapist she went to for the knee said she should do strengthening and water exercises, and that she'd always have to take this tendency into account.
I take it you've always been very flexible, too?
We do, or did, have a member who has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and being extra-flexible is one of the symptoms. You might want to google that if you haven't already.
I'm glad you got admitted to the pain clinic, though!
