I like bananas, especially in the morning, too, Ljm2014. They seem to satisfy me well and ward off any junk food.

I saw the sour melon in the store yesterday for the first time. It was right next to the stevia packets. Odd, how now sweeteners are now coming in force onto the market.

Just to chime in with my 5 cents worth: no matter what the Drs/studies say, if I don't eat clean, stay away from processed foods, additives, preservatives, artificial sweeteners etc, I suffer. So, I listen to my body. Also, yoga helps.
OK, maybe that was 10 cents worth. ;-)

Yes, everyone is different and has different problems. I do agree that we should always listen to our bodies and go with our gut feeling many times.

I did try eating properly for candida and I took a good probiotic for nearly a year and it didn't help at all. Some think candida causes everything. I've even seen where they said it cured autism. It doesn't because my little nephew is autistic and they did the candida diet and probiotics and it didn't help him either.
This definitely won't hurt anyone but I know it was a big letdown for me. The things that were claimed I was desperate enough to believe.

@rianna just posted this on the forum. I'm putting it in the right spot.
Recently the husband and I have decided to have a baby and I had already been researching on and off for both conditions. So now that it's time to get my health really in check and a way better diet than I have been with, I'm curious if anyone has suggestions on nutrition that's friendly to both. I tried the miracle diet and it affected my work. So when I started reading about
preconception diets, it made me frustrated. Spinach, romaine hearts, etc. don't agree with me, but they folic acid. Then peanuts don't agree with me, but they provide protein. I'm picky as it is so I'm getting confused.

Peach, I moved the article you posted here, because we're keeping all food discussions on this one thread.

candida
One of its leading cause. If you want to know more about
& be enlightened, you can read articles about
it or google more of it.

The alkaline diet has been very good to me. My belief is disease can only exit in an acidic body. Hippocrates said, "Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food". If we believe Hippocrates food is medicine for the body. Food is not the same today as it was in the past. The problem we have today is there are a lot of things pretending to be food. I try and stay away from the GMO's. Also limit the process foods. When you read the labels on the box these are chemicals and not food. I remember when I was a kid the bread would get moldy if you kept it to long. The bread doesn't get moldy anymore. We put chemicals in the food to keep the bacteria from attacking it. The bacteria will not eat chemicals but we do. Health is the result of what we put in our bodies. If we put good things in our bodies we have health. When we put chemicals in our bodies we have disease. When we find the right diet it is possible to get our health back.

I do keep my body in pH balance and have the test strips to prove it but yet I still have chronic pain, Crohn's disease, osteoporosis, diabetes, Ankylosing spondylitis...just to name a few. Various diets have not helped me unfortunately.
Everyone is different and some members do get help from avoiding certain foods but the majority of our members don't find that diets help them either.
I'm really happy that this worked for you! You are one of the fortunate ones.

So sorry you have so many problems. I really had no choice as to what to do. My last trip to the emergency room they could not put a name on what I had so I was not offered any drugs to help. They first though I was having a stroke. Paid $2000 to the emergency room and no answer. My PCP told me it was just old age. He gave me some blood pressure medicine and told me to learn to live with it. I was so sick I wanted to die. When searching for the answer one of the first books I read was The "Makers Diet by Jordan S. Rubin". It is about
a person struggle with healing his Crohn's disease and using the diet given to us by God. When God put Adam and Eve in the garden he instructed them to eat the fruits and vegetables bearing seeds. The purpose of eating is to give our bodies the vitamins and minerals it needs. I do not believe that one diet works for every one. Each of us must figure it out. Before I got so sick I was drinking 2 quarts of soda a day. My favorite food was ice cream and any other food which had lots of sugar. My favorite eating place was McDonald. Most of my meals were fast food. I was not getting the vitamins and minerals necessary for good health. I don't want to suggest that food is the only thing necessary for good health. We need proper sleep to give our bodies the time to repair itself. We need exercise to give us good blood flow. We need to avoid all toxins. We need prayer and meditation which will relieve the stress in our life. Hoping someday you will be able to find out your problem.

I have that book and have read it, too. I do eat healthy foods and cook meals from "scratch" but I always have since I love to cook. I don't eat a lot of junk food...even like to snack on baby spinach leaves. But food has never made a difference for me. And it hasn't for many others, either. BUT we do have members that have had success on some diets...especially if they are gluten intolerant. It's great that they now have many gluten-free foods in the stores for these people.
But, again, I'm so happy that this worked for you. Many of the illnesses I have are genetic in nature...just seems to run in my family...and fibro is one of them. You can't change your genes but you can try to do good things to help yourself by eating fresh fruits and veggies, lean meats, broil, bake, and roast meats, etc.

I cannot see a direct link between fibro and diet...but it only makes sense that a healthy diet would improve whatever health condition you have.
A lot of alternative medicine recommends what is called living food, grown naturally without lots of pesticides etc.. Organic fruits and veggies are much easier to come by these days. It does cost more.
I know when i am eating better , i just generally feel better. Soda is bad for everyone...coke can unclog a drain...can that be good for you?
Eat2bwell....you made dramatic changes in your eating.glad it helped you!!!!
