Hi, Glassgrl, and welcome! I use over the counter medication and supplements and maybe you have difficulty with that too, but I'll tell you what I take.
I use ibuprofen with food, Tylenol, magnesium malate, vitamin D3, and a prescription muscle relaxer called Robaxin. Many are deficient in the vitamin D3 because they use sunscreen and also many are deficient in magnesium. Magnesium malate has malic acid in it. Malic acid is found in apples and in some studies it has been shown to help with fibro pain if the person takes a certain amount. You will find info about the vitamin and magnesium in Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum. There are links to good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there. The links about the supplement and vitamin tell you how these work in the body.
Aslo, you do need to keep moving with fibro. If you sit or lay too much, you will be stiff as a board and have more pain. Also, pacing yourself really works. It all gets done but in a different time frame.
I'm sure other members will pop on, now that they see you are here, and give suggestions as to what helps them be in control of the pain. You won't be pain-free but you can be in control of it. Also, what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another with fibro. It's more trial and error. But quite a few have gotten good help from vitamin D3 and magnesium malate.
I'm looking forward to getting to know you better. Don't hesitate to ask questions because we are here to help you. Hope to hear more from you soon.
