Glad I got my cpap

I finally got my cpap machine for my sleep apnea. I can see it's going to take some time to get use to it. I was surprised how it had a memory chip in it. This way it shows if I am compliant or if the machine is doing its job. I guess no cheating! Lol. I am hoping this will make me feel better. I was told my oxygen was very low during the test. I can't blame only myself because my neurologist has asked me several times to have this sleep study done long time ago. I finally got tired of falling asleep every where. I hope if your waiting and needing one done, that you will go get the test done.

My excuse was the cost. So many of them will set up payment plans. I am renting to own mine. So don't use that excuse like me, it's not worth depriving your organs of oxygen.

Hang in there. It took me 2 or 3 months to get used to my CPAP. Also the reason for the compliance is to make sure that you are using it and haven't sold it on e-bay.

New to this forum but I can only reinforce the positives. I started on CPAP mid January and have had zero problems adjusting to it. I went on a 2 month trial of a Fisher & Paykel ICON and at the fortnightly check, my apnea per hour was down from 10 at the titration study to 3. Subsequent readouts at 1 month (visit to sleep specialist) and 2 months (purchase) have held this level.

These past months haven't been fun on the pain and anxiety front (I'm currently being investigated for Fibro by a Rheumy) but the knowledge that I'll have a good undisturbed night's sleep has been an enormous relief. I was diagnosed with a benign cardiac arrhythmia a few years back but recent ECG's have been indicating this arrhythmia may now be occurring less often. Possibly a positive effect of both losing weight AND CPAP ?

We're all different and have different reactions but from my personal experience; it's been an enormous positive and I only wish I hadn't been so "debilitated" by depression and anxiety NOT to have taken this action earlier !
