Costocronditis ?

I have been having pain in my lower right side for a few weeks. Right under ribs. Usually after I eat. I eat lots of fruit and vegetables so I've hear it could be excessive has built up .

But I do not have constipation, diarreah or trapped gas.

I went to a walk in clinic dr who thought I may have costochronditis , inflammation on rib. She said take tubelike and Advil. I also went for blood work abdominal ultra sound and chest x ray all came out normal.

I went to my personal dr and she didn't think it was costocronditis. She seemed confused. She said maybe my muscles are weak or tight and to go for physio. She gave me an anti inflammatory med but hasn't helped. Making me feel nauseous.

What is wrong with me? Where do I go from here?

Have you had your gallbladder checked?

Maybe it is costo and your doctor is wrong. Have you had appendix out?

I get pain under my ribs sometimes when bending over, I think it is costo.

I hope you find out what is going on.

They did check my gallbladder in the abdominal ultra sound and thy said everything looked normal. I'm thinking maybe I should go for an endoscopy? Maybe they can see more that way.

Yes, maybe...

I get the pains, or cramps right below my ribcage when I bend over. It doesn't always happen, but when it does, I can barely move. I don['t know how to stretch that area either so that doesn't help.

I hope you find something out with the endoscopy. Yuck, I don't think it would be too pleasant, but hopefully you can get some answers. If it is Costo though, it probably wont show anything.

Hi, Elle, and welcome! In Fibro 101...the first thread on the forum....is a link all about costochondritis. You can read that and see if this sounds like what is happening to you. I have costo that will flare up sometimes and I have chest wall pain and my ribs will hurt. It feels like someone is squeezing me tightly. If I press on the breast bone, it is tender so that's a signal to me as to what is going on. My doctor has me taking ibuprofen with food to help with this problem.

I'm guessing here but I think doctors would probably want an upper GI and a lower GI before they do endoscopies. The upper endoscopy checks the throat and down into the stomach. The lower endoscopy (colonoscopy) checks the colon and can go a little into the small intestine. But the upper GI allows doctors to look at the small intestines, I believe, and they are in the area you are describing. I'm not a doctor but I do have Crohn's disease and have had all of these procedures quite a few times.

You might want to see a gastroenterologist. They specialize in the digestive system and you could go from there. They would be the ones to do the above testing.

Do you have fibromyalgia? If so, do read all of Fibro 101. It has a lot of good info about fibro and you will learn a lot there.

I hope you find out what is going on. It sounds like you are quite uncomfortable. Let us know what you find out, too, because we do care about you.
