weird medication question

So I have been through all the NSAIDS and tylenol type drugs, codeine/tamadol etc and none have touched my pain at all.I am facing upcoming knee surgery but now I am getting worried about pain management after the surgery.Are the regular post op drugs going to control my pain? It seems like since the fibro pain is nerve related this might be a different kind of pain.I am not sure if anyone can even follow my thinking here.Has anyone experience surgery and had regular medication not work for pain control?

You need to let your doctor know that you require extremely good pain control medication, after surgery, and to take home with you, do to a neurological pain disorder. Don't let them blow you off! Knee surgery recovery and rehabilitation is painful. You should have a pain management team involved.

Also, be aware that if you are covered by a pain management contract, it still applies during surgery.

I've had Fibromyalgia for approx. 15 years.  I've let ALL my doctors know up front on 1st visit that I'm a PM patient.   I had my left knee replaced in Dec 2009 and prior to surgery and pre-op appt., I reminded Surgeon that he needed to get with PM prior to giving me anything at the hospital and for home.  My Surgeon contacted PM Dr. and together, they worked out my pain meds and I didn't have any problem controlling pain in or out of hospital when I went home few days later.

Hanna- if your not with pain management I would have a serious talk with your surgeon. Talk to them about your fears as you discussed here. You might have to remind them again after surgery because sometimes they forget. If your with pain management do what Brudisdog posted.
I have had those fears before and it's common to have them.
