hip pain (may have been asked before, apologies in advance)

hi guys, been a while since i have posted on here!.

Asking on behalf of my hubby who has been suffering with fibro for 17 years!!

He has gone through the many ups and downs that all you guys go through, but has been going through a really rough patch for several months now!!

He has the usual symptoms of fibro, but lately there have been a few new ones getting thrown in to the mix!!

He has had numbness and tingling and stabbing sensations down the left side of his body, neuro exam was fine!!

Neuro (he sees for Cluster headaches) thinks he may have trapped nerves and he has to go for CT scan on Monday.

Also has severe hip pain, can't stand or walk for any length of time, and also has stabbing pains when he is walking.

my question to all you lovely people, is, do any of you have similar symptoms and what explanation were you given and how is it treated??

He is getting physio which is helping at the time, but unfortunately he usually has to wait a couple of weeks inbetween them, so isn't constant enough to keep him pf

I first thought it might be bursitis of the hip. It's very common in fibromites and usually can flare up at season change. I am not sure bursitis causes pain upon walking like you described. My hip hurts standing or lying on it especially. I use a antiinflammatory cream instead of steriod injections. I just went through a run of fibro flare myself.

Numbness and tingling is common and yes sometimes the nerves can shoot off some pain. More then likely since the exam was normal it's fibro. Meds can reduce some of this. Exercise really makes a huge difference with me. I hope they can find what is causing it.

The pain u describe can be so many things. I will add my 2 cents & experience with back & hip pain.
Sciatica is a non ending pain always there no relief. This is usually from nerve pain.Mine was from a injury a severe motorcycle accident.
Crushed my lower back and had several herniated discs which in turn caused severe sciatica & back pain.
Once the discs were repaired the sciatica pain was gone, practically the same day of surgery.
Then hip pain in my case was so severe in the crotch area and directly on the out side of the hip joint. By the end of the day I could no longer walk or stand. Laying down helped some the pain was severe in my opinion I could never find a minute of peace.
This turned out to be osteoarthritis. The ball joint was bone on bone. Required hip joint replacement. And bursitis was painful and a the bursitis sac on the outside was also removed. A sac filled with fluid causing pressure on the nerves.

I also have vertebrate fusion and scoliosis, spondylitis, degenerative arthritis in the back and cyst growth causing pressure on nerves.

The many tests you mentioned will help with a appropriate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Many days of decisions ahead give way to find relief from pain and a full life again.
